Yep.

Residents Of Crime Plagued Areas To Be Given Free Shotguns. Welcome to Texas!

Even as Democrat legislatures continue their press to disarm law-abiding citizens (for example, states such as Colorado and New York), ensuring that only violent criminals have weapons, a group in Texas is working hard to give innocent people some protection against the human wolves prowling their neighborhoods.

CBS Dallas reports that, in one South Dallas neighborhood that has seen working-class residents plagued by an increase in turf battles between rival gangs, the Armed Citizen Project has a plan that will help citizens to protect themselves immediately, rather than waiting for the police to show up:

The Armed Citizen Project is raising money to give free guns to residents living in high-crime areas and to single women — so they can defend themselves against criminals.

Based in Houston– the group now wants to expand to Dallas.

There are strings attached to this handout. Those who wish to get free guns must pass a background check, complete a safety training course, and prove at least a year’s residency at their current address.

Nor is the gun a fancy, flashy one that would appeal to the gang types trying to crowd out good citizens. Instead, it’s a single-shot shotgun, which gives a wide spread pattern (about 6 inches), so that even a frightened or poor shot has some chance of hitting something.

Even Joe Biden might approve of this one (although you probably don’t want to follow Joe’s advice about how to use it).

Once in awhile, in direct opposition to all the "common sense" solutions offered by government, something like this stimulates thoughts that we my not go down the tubes just yet.

That it happened in Texas is not the surprising thing.

That it happened at all is the surprise.
