Brian Lilley gives an important warning to his American friends: Registration of firearms will lead to the confiscation of firearms.
-
They won't listen Marshal .
There are to many complacent fools who will say "it's better than an AWB".

The Senate, as of this posting, is doing a fantastic job of acheiving NOTHING....on the 8 Amendments, and proposed legislation.
This is a good thing. But they won't stop, and neither can we.
NO MEANS NO.
NOT ONE MORE INCH!!!!!

Every time guns have been registered, those same guns have been confiscated.
Every time.
Why is that so tough to figure out?
Thanks for the post, Marshall. But people just don't seem to understand the meaning behind every time!

Not only that the SCOTUS has ruled that criminals prohibited from owning firearms are not required to register them because it would be a violation of their 5th Amendment rights.
Here is and excerpt and link to the full discussion:
In Haynes v. U.S. (1968), a Miles Edward Haynes appealed his conviction for unlawful possession of an unregistered short-barreled shotgun. [1] His argument was ingenious: since he was a convicted felon at the time he was arrested on the shotgun charge, he could not legally possess a firearm. Haynes further argued that for a convicted felon to register a gun, especially a short-barreled shotgun, was effectively an announcement to the government that he was breaking the law. If he did register it, as 26 U.S.C. sec.5841 required, he was incriminating himself; but if he did not register it, the government would punish him for possessing an unregistered firearm -- a violation of 26 U.S.C. sec.5851. Consequently, his Fifth Amendment protection against self- incrimination ("No person... shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself") was being violated -- he would be punished if he registered it, and punished if he did not register it. While the Court acknowledged that there were circumstances where a person might register such a weapon without having violated the prohibition on illegal possession or transfer, both the prosecution and the Court acknowledged such circumstances were "uncommon." [2] The Court concluded:
We hold that a proper claim of the constitutional privilege against self-incrimination provides a full defense to prosecutions either for failure to register a firearm under sec.5841 or for possession of an unregistered firearm under sec.5851. [3]
This 8-1 decision (with only Chief Justice Earl Warren dissenting) is, depending on your view of Fifth Amendment, either a courageous application of the intent of the self-incrimination clause, or evidence that the Supreme Court had engaged in reductio ad absurdum of the Fifth Amendment. Under this ruling, a person illegally possessing a firearm, under either federal or state law, could not be punished for failing to register it. [4]

If you think my opinion that most people are dumber than dirt is harsh I have a little story you can check out for yourself.
I had to go to the Post Office yesterday.
On the table where they keep all the "Change of address" forms, mailing labels etc there was a box of brochures .
The title was "In a foreign lottery the odds are not all that is against you".
The whole purpose of this brochure, which I assume is offered in every Post Office in the country, is that the President of Nigeria doesn't really want to send you $10 million.
How dumb are we, as a society if such warnings are even needed ?

Thanks for that clip from our friends to the north. I had a discussion at work yesterday with a staunch Dem. member and he was adamant that just because you register your gun(s) it doesn't mean they will take them. He asked if I'd reg. and I told him - MOLON LABE! I drew the line in the sand a couple if yrs back after Columbine, when there were reg. rumblings after that tragedy.

I haven't been able to find any on line reference, but I recall reading that Washington D.C. instigated registration many years ago.
The NRA directed members to register their guns as it was the law and the NRA did not advocate breaking the law.
It might have just been a hand gun registration, but I recall that the registered guns were later confiscated.
Any one have any recollection, documentation or a link to this event?
