Title: The Bloomberg Report on the gun bill
Post by: fightingquaker13 on April 18, 2013, 01:33:23 PM
Well, in case you haven't found something to piss you off today (and being gun clingers you were probably born pissed), this will do it. Apparently the defeat of "sensible gun safety laws" is the fault not just of special interests (see, we're special, isn't that nice) but also that pesky US Constitution that lets rural states have two whole Senators. And theses "anti-cosmopolitan" votes, and no I'm not making that up,  have turned this nation away from the one true path. You have got to read this. Its the Bloomberg Report's editorial, and as such not signed, but I have never read such an historically ignorant and arrogant piece of crap in my life. I didn't know whether to get angry or giggle. Hell hath no fury like a gun grabber scorned. I'm thinking Hizzoner might have written this one. I hope so, it would make a great campaign speech in Iowa. ;D

Stupid is as stupid does, but Bloomie is a different animal. I like MB's description, that "nasty little facist" Mayor of New York City. These people hate us. They don't understand that the problem with cities is cultural, drug and gang based, crime based problems, empowered by the left. Me owning a gun has nothing to do with those problems, but me owning a gun is what they absolutely HATE. Because they feel that somehow the problems in the city are MY fault.
That's why you can't fix stupid.

True. But you can however, move. Austin is nice this time of year and the blues actually get played on the radio, and not just NPR. Screw 'em, drive south.

What pisses these guys off is it was the demacrate controlled Senate that torpedoed the bill.  They were waiting for the House to vote it down and thus blame the extremists in the tea party. Obama is now a lame duck.

Better still, their own Majority leader Harry Reid was the hero here. He voted FOR the AWB and mag bans, thus insuring they couldn't be brought up again under Senate rules, and against CCW reciprocity which came within two votes of passing, so that's still alive. Sadly he switched his vote from yes to no on UBCs due to white house pressure. But the guy is doing what he can. I called his office today to give him an atta boy, figuring that even though we don't see eye to eye, killing a new AWB deserves a thank you. The guy answering the phone nearly pissed himself laughing saying that he'd been taking calls all day from angry dems about the "no" vote on the UBC and gun owners on the "yes" vote on the awb, and neither had a freaking clue as to what just went down. Reid may be wrong on every thing else, but yesterday he did yeoman's work for the 2A. I'd have preferred if he'd let the background checks bill die, but that's small potatoes compared to what he killed.

Pardon my ignorance, but how does voting for the AWB/mag bans insure they can't be brought up again?

This is a new weasel move to me too.
A lot of this "procedural " stuff is a bunch of BS .
If they were honestly Representing the COUNTRY'S best interests they would not need as much fog around their actions.

But then most of them are lawyers, who never created anything but argument in their history.

THere is way too much bs, thats for sure.  All they really need is some basic debate, fact finding and voting.  Anything else is a load of crap and a waste of money.

Its simple guys. Under Senate rules, if the majotity leader votes FOR something that fails, it can't be reintroduced. Its dead. It was a provision put there to keep the same bill from being repeatedly introduced. By voting FOR Di Fis bills, Reid put a stake in them, and by voting against concealed carry, he let it live to fight another day. He earned his NRA A rating. Well played sir.

It's true. The crocodile tears, and Reid "shelving" the remaining Amends. I actually thought Reid gave an Oscar worthy performance. CSPAN yesterday...A humble and conciliatory Reid is a farce but placates to the base.

But it/they will have another chance to see the light of day, but not anytime soon. Maybe after the 2014 mid terms.

This is one of the MAJOR problems the NRA has, Reid can move mountains to harm the 2nd Amendment BUT if he votes "right" he keeps his A Rating?

Reminds me of another thread... WTF?

That was not an "A" rating in my book. Closer to a "C" or "B-" by keeping the UBC bill alive. I'm no longer grateful for half measures that keep chipping away at my rights. If you're going to stand for something, then stand, damn it! Don't tell me where you stand depends on where you sit!
