I figured SOMEONE else would have offered condolences to the people of West Texas..
Focus has been on the Boston bombing, but in contrast of impact Boston is nothing.
3 dead and 150+ injured out of tens of thousands .
West had far heavier losses in a much smaller population.

On Wednesday a fire and subsequent explosion at the West Fertilizer Plant here leveled five city blocks, killing at least 12 people and injuring more than 160. Some 60 people remain unaccounted for, Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn said on Friday. At least 150 homes and buildings—including a nursing home and an elementary school—were damaged or destroyed.

This is a member of the Bryan FD Honor Guard posted yesterday at the scene of the explosion in West . One of the sacred traditions of firefighters and other emergency service personnel is that we never leave a fallen member alone. This member, and others like him, will remain in place with each of the fallen until they have all been laid to rest.

You're right Tom, Texas has been overshadowed by Boston. In part because one is a terroist act and the other (we hope) was an accident and in part because bad guys are running, gunning, throwing bombs and dying. It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion. The culture has changed for the worst and this instance is a result of the 24/7 new cycle that is trying to avoid reporting anything that may reflect poorly on "Dear Leader".
Our thoughts and prayer are with those in Texas dealing with a horrible loss of life.

you're right,
we should have been here sooner. and thank you for bringing it up Tom.
I have been watching as I know people in the area, nobody involved though.
God bless Texas.

Thank you for the reminder Tom.

Thanks Tom. Guess we have been lax on that, even if they were in our thoughts.

I wasn't meaning that no one cared .
I meant I was just surprised that no one had posted about it.
It measured 2.9 on the Richter scale, and was heard 80 miles away .
I thought some one might have mentioned it. ;D

Wonderful state and like Deepwater said, many good people. Especially the country folk.
Remember, Texas was a country before they were a state.
