Obama's And Boston's Lesson: Jihad Works

The stupid, it burns.
The wrong answer to terrorism is what we're doing right now.
What our government is teaching prospective terrorists is that all they have to do is manage to get two jackasses who are willing to die to commit mass-murder, even if they kind of suck at it (let's face it, when they blew up those bombs in Boston they did commit their intended deed but an hour earlier and 10x as many people would be dead or missing legs.)
Then they pop a cop trying to rip off a convenience store and toss (non-working; they didn't explode) bombs out the window while trying to elude the cops.
The payoff for doing this is that an entire city shuts down to literal empty sidewalks and train service is halted along a hundred-mile+ stretch.
Even worse now the authorities are allegedly preventing residents who were away from their homes from returning there! You are now being forcibly dispossessed of your residence! Yeah, it's temporary, but so what -- that's my damned house, not yours! Get the hell out of my way!
Need I remind people that the entire point of terrorism is to terrorize? To create economic havoc in a given area through violence, and by doing so advance some social or political goal?
What sort of lesson is the jackass in the Oval Office along with those crap-for-brains idiots in Massachusetts sending to our enemies around the world?
Two *******s shut down a city of 7 million people who then cower in fear in their homes.
Screw that and screw them.
What should be the response is that every American who lives in that area should go about their business while openly carrying a pistol, rifle or both.
Go ahead -- try that terrorist crap with the proper response to such an event and see how long you live. That would instantly be the end of those terrorists and the economic disruption would be zero. It would also send a strong message -- pull that crap and we the people will do our duty as citizens to the common defense.
Instead we have a state and city that claims that doing so is "illegal" and gives the terrorists exactly what they want.
Those terrorists are responsible for murder but they're not responsible for the economic disruption.
You are responsible by putting up with this crap and the government is directly and proximately responsible by demanding that you cower in fear. Two jackasses who kill or injure fewer people than get hurt in car accidents in a given 24 hour period have now conspired with an idiot government to shut down an entire city of 7 million people!
How far we've fallen as a nation. We can't find our balls with both hands these days. We want the nanny cops and government to "protect us." How well did it work at the Marathon? To make it worse Massachusetts is one of those "great states" where you can't legally carry or possess a weapon without a license even though the 2nd Amendment says you have the unalienable right to do so.
I remind everyone that the 2nd Amendment exists for exactly this sort of reason and circumstance. Go read it again if you're challenged in your memory of its words.
These terrorists deserve to assume room temperature as soon as they point a weapon or arm a bomb with the intent to harm anyone else. The more people willing and able to do that the better, and the best way to respond to this sort of crap is to deny them the economic damage they seek to inflict.
Stop being stupid America; you shame our forefathers and those who stood tall when threatened in this nation's past, instead cowering in the corner and giving two murderous, cowardly jackasses exactly what they want.
What we should be doing is slinging weapons and going about our business, willing and able to discharge our duty as citizens toward both common and personal defense.

Hey TomB, did you ghost write this article?????

Couldn't have said it better myself. Its the North East. The only folks entitled to guns are cops and criminals. WTF? I, had it happened here, wouldn't have changed my daily pattern unless the cops wanted to clear my house. Even as a libertarian I'd have let them as I don't think they'd have had the time or inclination to go through my drawers, and I'm not growing pot in my basement. So why not not cooperate? But, when it comes to handing over my rights to either .gov or .jihad? Screw that noise. I'll walk the streets, go to my house, buy a cup of coffee and I'll do so wearing a Glock and hope my neighbors are strapped as well.
-
I was heading out to the store Thursday morning, and a neighbor down the street was going to get his mail with his Glock strapped to his hip. I gave him a thumbs up and we both smiled at each other.
-
I live 40 miles from this melee and this isn't lost on this guy! I threw my snub in the car even though it's against company policy to even have it in my car but I wasn't taking it lightly by any means. They shut down Boston and a few suburbs with the stroke of a pen! The precedent is rather unsettling.
-
Whew, I thought for a second I was loosing it...
I got scolded by my GF because I dare voice opposition to the kitted out FBI and SWAT teams rolling down US City streets in Strikers and Humvee's and Armored vehicles. The display of arrogance was at an all time high and just to sweeten the deal they shut down an entire city. FaceCook is awash with idiots praising the idea of shutting down an entire city to search for a jit bag in plain clothes that may have a pistol. What is wrong with people? There are plenty of war theaters out there to get all the action you could possible want, why is the FBI and our nations PEACE OFFICERS dressing up to play commando against 1 guy in jeans and a hoodie?

These men and many like them were apprehended by men and women wearing suits. What happened to the tact the American law enforcement used to have? Is this overt display of supremacy for them or for us?
I'm out, rant off, but this had to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my life and the fact that it is lauded as the greatest thing ever destroys most of my hope for humanity.

Yep.
There once was a time in this nation when those in charge of the search, would have welcomed armed citizens...... in any combination, from those going about their business armed, to those sitting on their front stoop armed, to signify that the home was 'clean' with no need to waste time there.
Then there would be those actually helping with the search (I know that is not a feasible option these days in most areas, because of the sheep mentality that America has devolved into).

Just posted this on FB;
"I know there are more than a few of you who are relieved the policia managed to find this terrorist in only five days but, it's a bit unsettling to me that the greater Boston area could be shut down by the stroke of a pen! The 4th Amendment is suspended for five days and tactibilly police, FBI and local cops are pounding on doors and demanding entry into private homes! What happens if it were more than just a couple of college kids (if they were the only ones involved)? Does marshal law ensue? Pretty scary to think of the precedent that's just been unveiled! Sure, I'm glad he's in custody but Big Brother is becoming a might too mighty for this guy! The Patriot Act is a very dangerous document when it comes to personal liberty! The power is the peoples, not the governments!
God Bless the United States of America!"

"So why not not cooperate? But, when it comes to handing over my rights to either .gov or .jihad? Screw that noise."
FQ, that is a conflicting statement. I understand the sentiment but cooperating at the point of a gun is handing over your rights.
Did they actually have authorization to suspend the Constitution or was it just a "good idea" dreamed up by the cops?
What of the homeowner who says, "I've already cleared my house, I'm the only one here. If I do see the guy you'll know because you'll hear me shooting him. Now go away and do something productive. He ain't here."
-
I agree with the original post except for one thing. These weren't guys who set off some bombs and then barricaded themselves somewhere or melted into the background. These were idiots who led the cops on a high speed car chase throwing BOMBS out the friggin' windows, killing cops, willing to get in a giant gunfight...you really need them off the street.
Setting aside the fact that they didn't know if there were only two, on the other hand, once big brother was dead, they could have sat back and waited for baby whack-a-mole's head to pop up somewhere. They didn't need the armored vehicles and the huge response.
It's easy to "Monday morning" something like this. I thought the response was heavy handed, but by the same token they we also taught them that we'll do whatever it takes to find their sorry a**es.

Playing devil's advocate here... really, just devil's advocate... but the "authorities" would quickly point out that they did not know, with certainty, that they were only looking for one person. Actually, they still don't know if others are in the area that helped or participated in this attack. The "authorities" would point out that additional explosives were involved and that there was a good possibility of follow-up bombings in or around the same area. They might even argue that by having everyone stay home, they were actually leveraging their ability to find the white-capped bomber more quickly. Homeowners, instead of gawking on the nearest street corner, would be home monitoring their own premises and would be more likely to notice something unusual. In fact, that is exactly how the guy was caught.
In a different time, or a different place, a citizen's posse rushing through the streets to capture a villain and deliver the people's justice seems romantic and apropos. Things have changed... people have changed... and certainly not for the better. The increasing militarization of civilian police forces and the unfettered usurpation of citizen's liberties can be effective - but at what cost? Benjamin Franklin once reminded us, "Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one." This, I fear, has been forgotten.
-
Just a fine point here,
Wasn't it a citizen who actually found the guy?
Would he had been found quicker if everyone wasn't on lock?
-
We have just seen the future. Know before you use them.

Sometimes I don't agree with you .
But when you are right, you are REALLY right.

Sometimes the thickness of your skull, (maybe it's just the academic indoctrination ) impresses me.
Other times, like now, it just irritates me.
You're living it and still can't see.
It's not "the North East".
It's the "Urb" .
The Boston "metroplex" , extends along I 95 from North of Boston right into the NYC "metroplex".
But if you go 15 miles West of I95 (about 80% of the region) you're in pretty much small town America.
But the 20% East of the highway control the political machines.
Just like Ca. or say, Miami .
Just a fine point here,
Wasn't it a citizen who actually found the guy?
Would he had been found quicker if everyone wasn't on lock?
;D ROFLMAO ;D
After basically recreating the Normandy Invasion with NADA to how for it,the cops let the citizens come back out since they had given up on finding this guy, as far as they were concerned he was gone.
Then some citizen strolls out on his porch for a smoke and notices blood spots on the ground and the cops take all the credit.

If it were another more gun friendly state like Texas or many other states "outside" the sheeple zone, the Cops would have just needed to remove the body, and provide where to send the clean up bill for the boat.
