So, let's see how the MSM takes to having the rights of a News Agency violated.
If you support the government trampling on the rights of some, you should expect your turn to be coming.
The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative's top executive called a "massive and unprecedented intrusion" into how news organizations gather the news.

Both answers might be simple.
1. Legal or illegal wire taps
2. To investigate activity that is counter to the remaking of America.

1. Legal or illegal wire taps computer hacking , probably by NSA.

if they are legal, it sucks, if they are illegal, they need to bend them over.

I've given up trying to figure out this administration's DoJ, but the article mentions them trying to find a leak of classified info. Start in the West Wing, not AP.

They don't need to do something as crude as wiretaps. Just get a warrant (these guys print them all day long), go to the provider and say "give me every thing on (123)-555-1234." They get incoming, outgoing, times, call length, and if it is a smart phone, URLs visited and data packet info.
Piece of cake.
I think they are about to find out that if you kick your lapdog it just might bite you.

I doubt it will bite .
The other media outlets probably won't even cover it.
The media has to much invested in the Dem Party in general, and this administration in particular .

It's pretty simple to figure them out if you start with the premise that we LOST the Cold War.
When we were guarding the inter-Germany border we should have been bombing Berkley.
