Title: "This is America, after all!"
Post by: Timothy on June 02, 2013, 08:21:27 AM
I'm moving very soon and as a result, because of the law here, when my CCW came up for renewal I decided to wait until I'm in the new house before I put in the paperwork.  My wife was a bit worried that the town was going to send storm troopers to the house and confiscate all of my guns and though I assured her that wasn't going to happen, she begged me to call and make sure I was "legal" to have them or at a minimum, give them to my daughter for safekeeping.

This began a long, tedious conversation on rights, specifically the 4th Amendment and what the police can and cannot do without a court ordered search warrant, yada, yada, yada,...  Since my spousal unit is a born and brainwashed MA baby, most of this was lost on her.  Regardless, I believe I've convinced her that if a police officer ever came to the house, she's under no legal obligation to allow them into the premises without the order from the court and to not let these people intimidate you or let them into the house!

So, I called the town and after several days of phone tag, I finally talked to the "licensing clerk" who was a pleasant woman and after a few laughs about my conversation with the wife, she assured me that, "No Mr. B, we're not going to come break down the door for your guns, this is America, after all!"

So, at least in this little burg a mere 50 miles from Beantown, a small little piece of America still exists!

p.s.  she also said that she's a very, very busy lady with all of the renewals and new permits she's issued since the election!

It's like I keep harping on to FQ and the other Rebel's on here, it's not a "Liberal North East" thing .
It's a " liberal Boston/NY thing"
You can no more judge New England by Boston than you can judge La. by what happens in New Orleans.
And Nevada ?
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, as long as you keep up with the shots  ;D
