So Wally World decided to build a new Superstore in our community, well actually near our community-the city blocked them so they built on the other side of I-5. They have a sporting goods section with...guns-n-ammo. YEAH! Well Fred Meyer has been the main game in town for a while and is now remodeling. Got my first peek at the new store today and they have...guns-and-ammo AND HANDGUNS! I saw no less than 5 XDS in 45 ACP! They had AR-15, good ones too-Windham Weaponry S&W in 22. Even saw some ammo. :o
Wife suggested putting a Ruger MKIII on the credit card. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? :o

Many Cities oppose Walmart Stores opening in the city limits and they are the only loser. The store opens close by, the same people shop there and the city can't tax it.
If this location prices the ammo like my local stores the shelves will be bare in no time, strike while you have the chance.

And then after it becomes apparent to the city "fathers" that they're losing lots or revenue, they'll annex the property into the city. And since WalMart probably only leases the land, they don't get a say. Hypocrites. I've seen it happen.

The world does tend to beat a path to their door, doesn't it!

Be not a part of this world! Avoid Wal-Mart like the plague it is.

Generally I'd agree. But at this point if my local mosque had reasonably priced (halal of course) ammo in the gift shop I'd be there buying it.

Color me surprised! My wife and daughters bought me an XDS for Father's Day. ;D
Just bought a Concealment Solutions Mamba IWB Hybrid holster for it. I will be running some rounds through it his week- it's pretty stiff out of the box. I'm pondering shooting it in USPSA Singles stack if I can swing 5 of the 7 round mags sometime soon. ;D
So stinking happy right now.

[drift] I am considering a build. I have intermediate skills with tools, I used to work on cars until the computer crap came along. I have lots of tools and access to others, but, I'm really a tote and fetch, dig that trench, haul that barge kinda guy. I would want to do one in .308 Win. Are there any special tools I might need? All the reading and video's on the web make it look easy. Probably a lot easier than it really is. [/drift]

Try Anderson Manufacturing. They make first rate stuff and are bound to have a video or at least someone to talk too. I don't have the URL, but google them.

FBG, If you buy the upper with the barrel and fore-end already attached, I don't think you even need a screw driver to "build" and AR.
Okay, yes you do. To attached the grip I think there is a machine screw. Assembling the trigger mech does take a little paying attention, but no special tools (a punch set can be helpful but not necessary).
Actually mounting and zeroing optics might take more effort and tools. Now if you buy the barrel, gas block, upper and fore-end separately then some tools will be needed.
