During my days in Louisville (NRA Convention), I spent some of my breaks at the Outdoor Channel booth listening to comments from viewers and potential viewers.
I noticed that a good portion of the comments was about satellite providers and how viewers had to upgrade (buy channel packages) to get the Outdoor Channel. None of them knew about the fact that they DON'T have to buy an extra package to view their favorite hunting and shooting shows.
The satellite providers are hiding this fact (for obvious reasons).
So... let me share the same info here:
Outdoor Channel is available nationwide on DISH Network.
* You can add Outdoor Channel to any existing program package for $1.99 per month. You will need to specifically request Outdoor Channel "a la carte" for $1.99 a month by calling 1-800-333-3474 and speaking to a representative.

I had The Outdoor Channel added a la carte when i switched from Cable to DirecTV about 7 Mo. ago.
Had to fight my way thru 3 alleged telephone "Supervisors" to get it without upgrading to a more expensive package.

+1 on that - although I only went to 2 layers, and the mope refused to answer my question why the first guy refused to hook me up. A major pain. Satellite companies are becoming as bad as the cable thugs.

you know its funny you say that, I have dish... When I was on a upgraded package I did not get the outdoor channel. when I downgraded I did.

I've had OC for quite a while. They are presently revamping their channel line-up! Imagine my surprise when I turn on the TV and try to view OC and it's tagged as a pay upgrade (which I'm already paying for!!!!!). One nasty call later and it is all taken care of but I shouldn't have had to make that call.

If the OC is dropping it's night at the range lineup, I will be dropping them like a bad transmission. I currently pay extra for the channel so I can enjoy this programming.

Wednesday Night at the Range will remain with lineups relating to guns and shooting sports.

I have Comcast and don't get the Outdoor Channel on cable. I would have to upgrade to the highest tier in order to get it and simply can't afford to do that. I would drop Comcast allogether if it wasn't for the fact that it is the only practical option I have for high speed internet. If I drop the cable TV and only go with the internet, my internet charges go up dramatically to nearly the price of TV and internet combined. The Comcast Crooks keep moving popular channels to the highest tier and either don't replace them or give you the Golf channel which they own. Comcast's commercials say how much better than satelite their reception is which is crap. Poor quality often. Every time I get poor reception I call and demand a credit on my bill which I get, but have to probably spend more time on the phone to them than what it is worth.

I've had DISH Network for almost 10 years. I think we were one of the origonal customers in this area. When the Outdoor Channel came along, with the Outdoor Life Network, it was $1.99. I've been hooked ever since. I'm sure the OC will maintain it's shooting/firearms programming.

Anybody know if Time Warner Cable will provide it separate from a "Sports Package?" What I was told a couple months ago when I asked for it is I had to upgrade to the sports package for $9.99 More a month.

I have Dish Satellite and have the premium package so I could get not only OC but the Military channel as well My wife likes it as well so that when my great grandson is here all I can hear is WHO LIVES IN A PINEAPPLE UNDER THE SEA? ;D

I watched nothing but broadcast TV for decades. I can get about 20 channels with my 40-foot tower. I swore I would never pay to watch TV because I was getting all of the networks free. When I got my computer four(?) years ago I had free AOL dial-up for 3 months. As soon as that expired I switched to Comcast, and having cable TV too gives me a $15 a month discount on my internet. If I didn't love truly high-speed, I would still be watching TV over the air like I did for 9/10s of my life. My mom has 28 k dial-up and my cable is 8,000 k, 286 times faster. I love it. DSL doesn't even come close to it. I could only get 768 k DSL when I tried last year. Comcast is 10.4 times faster than that. So now I have cable TV too.

I'm using Metrocast, Internet is about $50/ month, with cable TV it's $150 (basic) so I never bothered adding TV.

First I got screwed by the oil companies, then it was the gas company now it's the cable company!!!!!! Turned on the TV the other day to find OC was a pay channel. I called and told them I was already paying for it and it was turned back on. Surprise, I got the cable bill today and I'm being charged for OC now. I called and was told that the channels were being re-alligned (meaning switched around so that they can charge extra for something I used to pay for as part of a package). Problem is I wasn't told it was extra and I'm not paying ALC so I reluctently cancelled and as politely as I could said goodbye and hung up - no sence taking it out on the CS girl. Going to cancel some other useless stuff on cable too.
LOL

I'm cranky - my Outdoor Channel cut out.
First that VERSUS crud channel takes over (bull riding in place of cowboy shooting - SPIT!) now DirecTV dropped OC again!

I posted earlier in this thread about my displeasure with Comcast but I just had to add this crank about them Imagine my surprise and displeasure today when I opened my bill and my internet service had gone up 135% to $58.63. I was actually pretty reserved when I spoke to the CS representative, probably because I realized she has nothing to do with pricing and was actually helpful and intelligent. "Apparently" a computer glich bumped me up to a higher speed level. The $58.63 was actually for a month and a half billed retroactively from when I "requested" the higher service. So the increase was only around 75% per month. Funny how I never noticed the faster speed for the last month. I actually thought it was rather slow recently. I still have to pay this bill, but I'm supposed to be credited on the next one. In addition theyre moving more channels to the upper tier again, but if I get one of the upper tiers I can get the horse racing channel. Rant Off.

I had no trouble adding the Outdoor Channel on directv. Of course they tried to sell me the whole package but I got the outdoor channel for 2 bucks a month. A bargain,I believe, considering all the great shows. Now if they would only broadcast in HD.
