Anybody who does business with those jackals should be banned from any and all gun boards. They have gouged and screwed us thrice. They did it on EBRs, they did it on mags, and they're doing it on ammo. F them! They should get the full Zumbo treatment from every gun rag and all us consumers. We won't take your adverts, we won't do business with you, and oh, BTW, eat shat and die.

FQ, That's capitalism .
They are charging that because there are people who WILL pay that .
They are those new shooters new .
They don't know what this stuff SHOULD be selling for, so , they see it, they have been told they need it, so they buy it.
Later on they will learn just like the rest of us did .
When these guagers run out of unknowing newbs they will have to return to prices we will pay or eat their merchandise.
You want to screw them back ?
Educate new shooters .

Tom is right here. I don't like seeing this either. But the fact is this is what happens in a free market system. I posted that because I, along with the guys on this board know those prices are in fact ridiculous. But there are those who will pay for it because they are either forced to, or else they don't know any better.
It's why, to some degree, stuff costs more in Alaska and Hawaii. Yes, it costs more to get it there. But also people have no choice. If you want to eat at McDonald's in Honolulu, it's going to cost you more to do it. If you don't like it, swim to L.A. for your burger.
Today there is no $9.95, 9 MM ammo. 8 months ago the stores were full of it. Today there are people who have to pay $35.00+ a box for it because they have none and need it. Much like plywood, batteries, and water just before a hurricane. I've got 30 more P-Mags coming from Brownell's. I don't need them. I already have plenty. But I feel that when another school shooting occurs, they may not be obtainable at any price, or else I'll have to stand in line for them at $100.00 each like the last time just after Sandy Hook.

So I would rather have more than I need now, rather than not be able to get them later. A new shooter who just purchased an AR-15 won't know or understand all of this. So when the next shooting happens he'll be out of luck and have to stand in line and pay the insane prices. We're no different than the rest of the animal world. We're programmed to take advantage of what we can, when and where we can. Most of us just don't like to admit it.
-
I get all that. What I don't get is a supposedly "gun oriented" store shatting all over its customers. Brownell and Midway didn't. Yeah, the prices went up, that's business. Price plus profit. But they kept the same profit margin and just charged for the extra cost imposed by intense demand. That's fine. What isn't fine is driving up your profit margin to take advantage of your customers who are freaking out. That may net you some short term profits, but folks like me remember.
You took advantage of me in a crisis and now you expect me to shop there again? Screw you.
To use Bills hurricane example, there used to be a statewide lumber yard/hardware chain called Scotty's. They were the Lowe's before Lowe's showed up. Back when Andrew hit, they jacked up the prices on plywood by about 200%. Home Depot sold for the same price as normal, the wood wasn't costing them any more, they just chose not to take scalper's prices (and in some of the hardest hit areas, they were giving it away or selling at cost). That made headlines. Scotty's is no more. Home Depot is going strong. People remembered.
I hope this happens to lower than dirt. I remember that while they were scalping me, Brownells and Midway were just passing along their costs, and that's fine. Guess where I'm spending my money?

It will, and in fact already is. Go to You Tube and search, "Cheaper Than Dirt". It's full of, "F*#K You Cheaper Than Dirt", videos. People will only put up with over the top pricing for just so long.

So, how many of you forward thinkers have 300 gallon gasoline tanks buried out by the barn or shed, with a replica Atlantic pump on the surface to keep your 4 door 4wd 250's running during the next gas crisis? Might as well. If many of us did that there would be a gasoline shortage for sure. Okay, we can blame it on the gasoline company gougers and the newbies who just got their new 250 and the government stupidos and everyone else but ourselves. Come to think of it, I have to upgrade my buried gasoline tank (currently 200 gallons) to 500 gallons so I can be better prepared than billt! Ever think that the way to engage the new gun owners is by letting them enjoy a few mags, some ammo and accessories so they become partners and activists on our side rather than discouraged and sit on the sidelines of what is going to be a big battle? Probably not. Let them get a horse!

How long can fuel be stored before it spoils?

What the heck are you talking about ? ???

If you add something like "Stabil" (sp ? ) it will last quite a while.

I used to use that in my boat over the Winter, (2 cycle outboard). But I don't think you can put that into the low emission automobile engines without screwing up the catalytic converter??? ???

Use Seafoam.

Sta-Bil says it won't harm anything.
Q: Is STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer safe for fuel injectors and catalytic converters?
A: STA-BIL® brand is safe to use in both fuel injected and carbureted engines, and will not damage catalytic converters or oxygen sensors. STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer prevents the formation of gums and varnish that can clog fuel injectors, and actually contains a fuel injector cleaner to further improve your engine’s performance.

Well if it was practical to store that much gas I am sure more people would consider that option given the wide fluctuations we have seen in gas prices recently. But the problem with your analogy is that there are politicians in power that are doing whatever they can to make ammo and firearms extremely difficult, prohibitively expensive or downright impossible to purchase. It's also becoming more obvious that the current regime has little respect for the Constitution so new firearm/ammo restrictions that circumvent the democratic process are a real possibility. I hate the fact I bought a 9mm first the first time recently and have difficulty finding ammo for it a decent price but I have no problem with people stockpiling up several years supply of ammo. That seems like a prudent thing to do in the current situation if you ask me.

Two trains of thought from personal exp.
While living in coastal NC, post Hurricane Bertha, some folks "thought" charging $10.00 for a 10lb bag of ICE was acceptable, because
folks had to have it to preserve their food, and we're willing to pay for it.
Afterwards, as in FL, anti-gouging laws were passed to curtail greedy scumbags taking advantage, BUT as Darth Rahm has stated:
"Never let a crises go to waste."
Ammo is not as important to the masses as food, so it is left alone and exempt from scrutiny. Recent gun show still had clowns selling ammo at ridiculous prices...
The good thing is, buyers are more savvy, resourceful, and called the greedy scumbags out. Folks were buying PMC .223 for almost a $1 a rd. in January, (post NewTown), now it's .30 to .60 ish cents a rd. depending on where you go.
The AR price gouge is over as some prices for AR's/AK's are coming back to what is the new reality.......
We all know the days of the $99 Norinco SKS in the crate are long gone, but thankfully, the days of the $1500 STOCK DPMS/OLYMPIC plain Jane AR are gone also....
The keyword to remember is:
FOR NOW....

Hello,
Just my two cents worth.
I have a reasonable amount of 22lr ammo on hand.
Most of it is stuff that I have had for years, when you could get a brick for $5.00. I last bought CCI tactical 375 box for $27.00.
I was at the local small gun store the other day, and they were selling CCI tactical bulk box 375 rounds for $114.00.
According to them, when I questioned them about the price, is the distributor is the problem.
NOT the manufr. Needless to say, I did not buy any. Another customer box the box (1 per customer).
The real problem is last week some of my grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, my son, and I had
a great time at the range consuming 1200 rounds of 22 ammo. At that rate, I will have to limit group shooting 22.
As for all my CF ammo, I have reloaded for many years. I talk to many people who are thinking about reloading, and unless
you have stocked up for years, you will find that most, if not all, components are difficult to find.
At this point in time, the information that I am getting is that it "should" ease up in about a year. We will see.
-
As long as we tolerate the existence of anti rights, anti American subversives in this country any "easing" will only be temporary until the next attack on our freedom and our national culture.
The stupidity of "inclusiveness", "tolerance", and "diversity" assures continued undermining of everything America represents.
-
I feel we should have long memories, if a business charges outrageous prices now when the panic is over we should boycott them. The suppliers I have used are mostly out of stock but when they have inventory prices have a modest markup not scalper prices.
-
all looked like normal pricing to me ( well what we pay for some of our ammo )
-
They're at it again. This time they've jacked the price up to .45 cents a round for Standard Velocity .22's.

I went to a gun store Tuesday, one I go to occasionally, and he had two boxes of 555 22's for $80 each. I left without buying anything and will not go back. I also will not buy from CTD for the same reason.
