Title: IDPA video - Me shooting
Post by: alfsauve on July 02, 2013, 09:38:18 PM
For those who wonder what IPDA is like.  Also this was an interesting scenario.

In a public bathroom.  Pant down around your ankles.  You've put your gun on the floor next to you.  You're holding a roll of TP.  5 bad guys bust in the bathroom and threaten to kill everybody.  In your excitement you foolishly keep holding on to the toilet paper and you don't take time to pull up your pants.  (That means you shoot everything one handed.)  (Pants are simulated with a belt around your ankles.)

Shooting a 625 in ESR.

Here's the same shot from the side.

A couple of take-aways.   a)  I was pleased that I kept my weak hand close to my body.  Though for balance I wish I had put it behind me.   But at least it was in a safe position.   b)  I should have only taken 3 shots on the first target.  I drilled a no-shoot with one of my extras.  Plus I gave up any extra shots I might have had for other targets.  c) My reloads were safely done.  I was not swinging my barrel around.

My raw time was 44.46, but I was -15 so my final score was 51.96.  That was good enough for 4th from LAST place out of 27 shooters.

Looks good and IDPA is fun and you can learn a lot but I have never seen too many people rushing into a unknown enemy. Not your video but a few time I shot IDPA some of the veteran shooters were more for time than safety. Carry on and looks like you had fun

#1.  Nice job - Looks like a fun day;

#2.  Glad they simulated drawers around ankles so we didn't have to see it;

#3.  Is that 625 a JM model;

#4.  Damn retired dudes with good retirement planning, cash and time to shoot  ;)

#1 It was fun as was the stage we had to do entirely lying in "bed".

#2.  The lady shooters (all of whom out shot me)  appreciated it as well.

#3.  Yes.

#4.  Not retired yet, but getting darn close.

(Will work for ammo)

good shooting!  using a wheelgun in competition is an uphill battle, of sorts.

I think it's the tactical "TopSiders" that make the difference!

Great stuff, Alf!

Good eye Tim.  If you can't do it in Topsiders, it probably isn't worth doing.

It's about all I've worn for thirty + years.

Gives new meaning to the phrase, "Getting so a man can't even go to the can in peace anymore!".
