..can anyone think of one? I'd like to have something like that for close range varmints at night. I need the rail for a light and preferably have the facility to mount a red dot. It needs to be a revolver because I really like to shoot those Aquila SSS subsonic rounds.

has enough real estate up front to fit a rail and clamp an RMR or something to the rib....just a thought?

Why does it need to be a revolver? It would be quieter from a semi-auto and my Ruger Mark II works fine with Aguila SSS. Last week I put a few hundred rounds of various ammo through it. The one box full of SSS I had worked flawlessly. Everything except CB Longs did until it finally got too dirty, and it would probably still work with a little lube.

Yeah, I guess that would work....and in all honesty I'm only likely to get one round off anyway. My wife's S&W 15-22 works great with them too, but they seem to have discontinued the pistol version.

Or get one with a top mounted weaver rail, put a BSA red dot on it (about forty bucks) and hold your flashlight in your hand. The surefire site describes what they call the "syringe method" and it works. Basically you clamp the light between the index and second fingers off your off hand with just the butt plate protruding back. This lets you cup your gun hand as normal and operate the tail switch with your thumb. Give it a few minutes practice and it works great. Much better than holding the light with the off hand and just bracing the gun on your wrist. (note this only works for smaller tac lights with end cap switches).
