Title: Venice Beach Killing Rampage
Post by: Paraguy on August 04, 2013, 06:59:04 PM
It is horrible to see the rampage in Venice Beach, CA that resulted in a death and many injuries, it is truly tragic.  I can't help but wonder how things could have turned out differently if this driver only had access to a Smart Car, a Motorcycle or an ATV that is used for hunting purposes.  That car could seat 5 people, but he was the only inside of it so all of the extra capacity was used as unnecessary force that caused even more harm.  If you only need to transport yourself then why do you need all of that extra capacity?

You would think in CA that their thoughtful leaders would have passed legislation to prevent tragedies such as this one.

And I believe this particular car was an automatic.

Drivers should be limited to stick shifts with no more than 4 speeds.

There's just no need to have all that horsepower and an automatic.

Sheesh...

FOUR SPEEDS?  FOUR SPEEDS?

There's no reason to have FOUR SPEEDS.  Three is all anyone ever NEEDS.

And to top it off that car had a sliencer.  There's just no reason any one NEEDS a silencer.  We need to strictly limit who is allowed to possess these insidious devices.  Place a large tax on them to limit who can afford to own them.

Don't forget the gasoline.

Taggants surely would be useful in determining where and who bought the gasoline.  Make it so it can be detected in the residual exhaust fumes.

Limits on how much can be purchased per month....no one need 100s of gallons of gas a month.

Registration of each purchase and the unique taggant ID added to each filling is recorded

Permits to purchase and high taxes....they can't murder with cars if they can't start them.

And maybe we can sue the car dealer, the car manufacturer and the gas station, because they enabled this terrorist by making and selling the car and gasoline.

And the tire manufacturer for helping make possible "rolling death machines" that are not stopped when someone runs over a curb.
Also the loan company for their ties to financing terror, the city for not putting up barriers to protect the innocent...

What a bonanza for lawyers!!   Deep pockets as far as the eye can see!

Was the driver ever identified?  I wonder what his political leaning is... ;)

EDIT: Did my own research, found it at BBC: Nathan Louis Campbell, 38, of Colorado

Must be a liberal, even Timothy McVeigh  identified himself as an atheist and Democrat .
