My first was HEAVY  METAL (volume 2 superstars of the 70's). It should be '70s. Anyway I still have it. You can get it cheaper than I did here. http://www.discogs.com/Various-Superstars-Of-The-70s-Volume-2-Heavy-Metal/release/1624466 This is a 2 album set. My brother had the first set of 4 records. Amazon has it for sale.

Has to be an 8-track for me.

Probably James Gang, Jimmy, Dr. Hook, Blind Faith, Zeppelin, the Band, Santana, Iron Butterfly...can't remember anymore.  There was so much raw talent in the mid to late 60's and the 70's that they were all great.  A lot of concerts in HS too!  Probably didn't buy an album until I was in the service because I had no turntable till then!

First album was by the Beatles, A Hard Day's Night, the sound track of the movie of the same name.

Bought it 1966.

Liked the move too.

Johnny Cash  Live at San Quentin.  Probably still have it some place.  If I remember correctly "A Boy Named Sue" was censored.

On another note, saw a band last night "All in Love" from the local area that played their biannual reunion benefit concert for their 40th anniversary.  Went to high school with most of them, but now they are scattered through out the country.  Large band with 10-12 members, horns, guitars, drums, and more.  Big sound.  They did pretty well regionally in Michigan in the mid to late seventies.  The local club they played is usually a young person hangout, but last night the average age was 50+.  Not sure if they ever recorded any thing for release, but they could have.

How about that.  I bought my first albums in honor of the same achievement and in the same place...just 15 years earlier.   :D :D

Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" was the first buy for me. Mine was vinyl though.

My first album was Abacab by Genesis. Not sure about the first CD. Might have been The Wall by Pink Floyd. Funny enough, I do not have either of those anymore.

Boston/Boston for something like $5.19.

A friend's little brother ended up scratching it and I made him pay me for it, that's why I kinda' remember the price.
