OK...it said anything for a topic in the Downrange Cafe'...so here you go. What do you do with the stinking junk mail credit card offers? I tear up the contents, put those contents in the self-addressed postage free envelope they are kind enough to include and send their trash back to them. Sometimes I write "Please Recycle" on the back.....but only because I'm a sensitive, caring and eco-responsible guy.
What you may not have known is that there are lots of extra charges imposed by the U.S. Post Office for that guaranteed postage without an actual stamp. The actual cost on the guaranteed return postage, labor, etc...is around $2.00 a response. Besides, it may help to subsidize lower mailing cost for real mail. My time is at least as valuable as $2.00 a letter....how about yours?

I mailed their crap back to them so many times, they eventually stopped mailing me offers.
-
I tried return to sender but that didn't work I will now send thier crap back with thier envelope. Thanks for the idea
-
I don't even open them... I just shread them
-
I filled out their questonare and sent it in so they would have to spend the money to find out my bad credit score and they all quit sending me thier junk. That was 7 years ago. ;D

Save them until I have several brick sized bundles, then convert them to BTUs in the shop woodstove.
Mac.

My bank is heavy in the credit card business, but we DO NOT mass mail that crap. Any credit card company that is still doing mass mailings (Capital One, Citi...) is simply wasting their money. Statistically, response rates are now less than 0.5%! The industry used to consider 2%-3% a highly sucessful promotion, still pretty thin in my opinion. The game for those guys is...open new accounts faster than you can write off the bad ones.
And we wonder why the economy is in the shape it is in. ::)

Yeah...but 0.5% isn't bad when they charge 25%+ interest. They make it up with charges and fees on the suckers. Which...really tics me off they would send that crap to dimwits...those guys are real predators who need to be taken outside of town....

And they can raise your interest rate if you are late on ANOTHER bill. I saw a show once about Credit card contracts, A woman was saying that she could not make sense of her contract and she had been TEACHING contract law for 25 years, the contracts are written with the intent to deceive the consumer. Loan sharks envy credit card companies.

Just shred them and go on with my life ;D

I always use their post paid envelope to send their stuff back. AND I look for other stuff to send back with it, just to make it heavier so it will cost them more. ;D

Good man. Superior approach in thinking and execution.
About 10 years ago I flew next to a USPS Postmaster who lived outside of Tulsa. At that time, those little envelopes, when returned, cost the CC companies about $1.35 in postage fees each. 10 years later it's gotta be a lot more plus when you add their time, staffing and overhead easily $2.00 in cost for each returned envelope...I would suspect true cost in the range of $2.00 to $3.50 per envelope. Adding weight adds insult to injury...way to go.
FYI...some have wised up and put "window"s cut in the envelope so you have to return at least part of the offer in one piece....not a problem...can do. Anything to oblige in costing them time and money.

the cards inside make GREAT .22lr targets. ;D

I made them take me off the list at all 4 credit bureaus. I get a lot less now and usually throw them away after removing my name and address to be burned or shredded. I have mailed some back at their expense. Mailed a bunch of crap back to the Democratic party too, including the envelope it came in. One time I got PO'd and mailed back a brick First Class, their expense. They don't like me anymore. :) One of these days I think I'll tape the envelope to a box and send them 50 pounds of manure. I know they're all full of it and don't need any more, but it would make me happy to see them pay. ;D
