Title: Glock mainspring question
Post by: Bic on September 22, 2013, 07:55:31 AM
I found an unfired Gen2 model 23 at a show yesterday and upon stripping it down at home found it to have a 'non-captured'/'non-captive' mainspring....I own a few Glocks but all have a captured spring - any big disadvantage here - should I change it ?

Is this the mainspring or the recoil spring?

I'd guess  he's talking recoil spring.

It is easier to work with the captive spring...but they perform just fine.

While I'd consider a captive replacement spring if one were available, I've  never searched for one because it is not that much of a hassle.

In an episode of 'Black Books' (Dylan Moran) our hero awakes with an almighty hangover and is unable to remember the words "Alka Seltzer" so after much thought he comes up with "fizzy fizzy feelgood"

At the major Glock matches, Glock has a free armorer service.  They'll check it and maybe even replace the recoil spring for you.
