I guess the term 'collector' is outmoded.  ::)  ::)

Feds Say Possession of “Large Amounts” of Weapons May Indicate Terrorist Activity

A joint bulletin issued in early August by the Department of Homeland Security and FBI warns state and local law enforcement agencies to look out for people in possession of “large amounts” of weapons and ammunition, describing the discovery of “unusual amounts” of weapons as a potential indicator of criminal or terrorist activity.

Citing the example of Norwegian mass-murderer Anders Behring Breivik, who reportedly “stockpiled approximately 12,000 pounds of precursors, weapons, and armor and hid them underground in remote, wooded locations,” the bulletin instructs law enforcement to look for “large amounts of weapons, ammunition, explosives, accelerants, or explosive precursor chemicals” that “could indicate pre-operational terrorist attack planning or criminal activity.”

Weapons do not have to be “cached” in remote locations to meet the standard for suspicious activity.

According to the bulletin, weapons could be stored in an “individual’s home, storage facility, or vehicle” and may include common firearms such as “rifles, shotguns, pistols” as well as “military grade weapons.”

The illegal possession of large amounts of ammunition is also listed as a potential indicator of “criminal weapons possession related to terrorism.”

While the bulletin never clarifies what constitutes a “large” or “unusual” quantity of weapons or ammunition, it does say that such a quantity would “arouse suspicion in a reasonable person.”

Common sense should  make it clear,  only prob is common sense is not very common.  A guy with 100 old side by sides is most likly a collector.  A guy with 100 ar each diffrent or set up diffrently is most likly a collector.  A person with 100 ar that are exactly the same,  red flag.    a guy with 100 exmiltary bolt guns in diffrent flavors, most likly a collector.

Well that looks like a good start. I think several guys on this board that have been buying guns here and there for the last 30 or 40 years would need a couple more of those tables.
7 pistols? No revos? What is this guy, a long haired hippy type pinko fag?

Should I be concerned that I just bought the third rifle case from the bottom last month?  A Cabela's customer!! Shoot him!

I had to liquidate about half of mine in 2010 for some quick cash, so my toys aren't far off from the display here.  :'(
A concern of mine is these wonderful laws that keep us all safe will lead them to examine the insurance policies to discover who's door to (no) knock on..

They are laying the foundation for additional 4th Amendment violations by placing a number on gun ownership.  Cross that line (which will change weekly) and they will be "justified" in searching your home for evidence of a crime.

If that rifle is a FAL (not too clear) it is the charging handle.

An unusual amount of guns to them is more than one each rifle pistol or shotgun.

The illegal possession of large amounts of ammunition

Not that these people can logically be explained, but, can someone please attempt to explain that statement? Too little ammo is a much more serious offense to me.

As to the multiples of the exact same gun, I like consistency in my self defense firearms.

The whole idea reminds me of Minority Report in a sense.
Being pre-judged for something you may or may not do in the future, based on circumstantial evidence (which changes on a whim of the authorities).

Now don't get me wrong, I believe in heading crime, and particularly terrorism, off at the pass so to speak, but use solid investigation to do so.
It's just flat wrong to put a "blanket solution" over any and every issue even if it hurts the good guys too (as the libs love to do.... as in one bad man with a gun = all guns and gun owners are bad).

That would require real, you know, actual police work.
It's much easier to castigate entire sections of the population and not have to deal with petty things like evidence or intent.

Conservatives in general and gun owners in particular, are the new Kulaks.

An unusual amount of guns to them is more than one each rifle pistol or shotgun.

If you go by Vice President Biteme's logic, more than one double-barrel shotgun would be unusual, and unnecessary.

If you go by Vice President Biteme's logic, more than one double-barrel shotgun would be unusual, and unnecessary.

Actually by Feinstein's logic the second barrel would be unusual, unnecessary and would constitute an arsenal.

This can't be an arsenal, where are those evil assault revolvers?
