I came across a PETA program called Air Angel http://www.peta.org/b/thepetafiles/archive/2013/10/21/hunters-watch-out-peta-s-drones-are-flying.aspx (http://www.peta.org/b/thepetafiles/archive/2013/10/21/hunters-watch-out-peta-s-drones-are-flying.aspx) I read the information and sent them, and I watched their videos. I then sent them the following email to which I received the later automated response that pretty much tells me they do not care to inform me.
Dear PETA,
As a certified firearms safety instructor, and a certified self defense instructor, I would like you to explain to me how your Air Angel program coexists with the following situations:
1. Most states have laws in place concerning the harassment of hunters in the field. Your Air Angel program, as shown in your videos and still, show direct contact with hunters between both the drones and the operators. What is your policy, and how are the volu4.nteers acting while in the field;
2. In terms of defensive and personal safety, what is your policy and operating terms concerning how close the drones will be to hunters in the field;
3. I notice that your volunteers are not wearing blaze orange in the videos or photos. Are you aware that this is the law and also a fundamental safety item when in the hunting field whether hunting or not;
4. What is the liability coverage for both PETA and the volunteers in the event they cause property damage, injury or death to a hunting dog, injury or death to a hunter, or damage or loss of personal equipment used by an outdoor participant?
Thank you for receiving my email, and I look forward to your response to my concerns. Your reply, concerns, and information will be used as a part of my presentations to people of all walks of life enjoying the outdoors in more ways than just hunting and fishing.
Sincerely,
Michael Bjerum, CFSP, Certified Crematory Operator
All of my contact information is here and I hid if from you bunch of prankster kindergartners ;)
Thank you for contacting PETA.
If you e-mailed PETA to report an animal who is currently in need, we ask that you also send your email to CIDinfo@peta.org<mailto:CIDinfo@peta.org> and call our office at 757-622-7382 and dial "0." If you are calling between 6 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. ET, please listen carefully to the recording for instructions on reaching our after-hours emergency pager.
This e-mail was sent automatically to acknowledge receipt of your message
and to provide some information that we hope you will find useful.
You may still receive a response to your individual inquiry,
but please read the following information carefully.
.
If you are a member of the media, please use our e-mail form at http://www.PETA.org/about/contact-peta/contact-media-department.aspx<http://www.peta.org/about/contact-peta/contact-media-department.aspx>; or call us at 757-622-7382.
If you are reporting a website showing animal abuse, see http://www.PETA.org/action/get-active-online/cruelty-on-the-internet.aspx<http://www.peta.org/action/get-active-online/cruelty-on-the-internet.aspx>; to learn about actions you can take in response.
If you are inquiring whether a particular company experiments on animals, visit http://www.PETA.org/living/beauty-and-personal-care/default.aspx<http://www.peta.org/living/beauty-and-personal-care/default.aspx>; for relevant information.
If you are notifying us about a change in your e-mail or postal addresses, or if you are requesting to be removed from one of our mailing lists, your message will be passed along to the appropriate staffers here who will process your request, even if you don't receive further notification.
If you have responded to one of our action alerts and received a reply that the mail could not be delivered, please note that many times, when we issue an action alert, the volume of e-mail may exceed the capacity of the recipients' e-mail servers or accounts—this is actually a good sign that many people are speaking out. If we find that an address is being permanently blocked, however, we will try to find a new address and update the action alert accordingly.
Please also bear the following in mind:
• If the answer to your question is on any of our websites—all of which may be searched from the Search box at http://www.PETA.org<http://www.peta.org/>; —you may not receive a response because of the huge volume of mail sent to PETA. You also may not receive a response if you are forwarding information to us, such as an article or a website link, although we will make sure that it gets to the correct department for review.
• Please do not send your question to other PETA e-mail accounts; we will ensure that your message gets to the proper person—duplicated efforts take up time that is vitally needed for our efforts to help animals. We read all letters and value your comments and suggestions, which will be shared with the appropriate staffers even if you do not receive a response.
• Please allow up to two weeks for most inquiries that require responses.
o If you are inquiring about your membership or monthly pledge, you should receive a personal response within five business days.
o Requests for literature or other free materials that include a mailing address will be fulfilled right away.
• We cannot open any e-mail attachments for security reasons. If you have sent an attachment, please re-send your message with the contents of the attachment (or a description of the contents) within the body of the e-mail.
• You may receive a form response (in addition to this automated reply) when writing regarding a subject about which we have received a great deal of mail. This allows us to use our time most effectively to help animals and to provide people with information as quickly as possible.
• PETA receives hundreds of reports of abuse and neglect of animals every day from around the world, far more than we—or any other organization—could personally address. In order to use our time most effectively to help as many animals as possible, we cannot reply with details of the actions we may be taking for most reports, nor can we give updates on cases in progress. We are also not able to issue hundreds of action alerts each day, as we trust you will understand.
• If your e-mail account includes a junk-mail ("spam") filter and you wish to receive a response, please make sure that the filter does not block messages from PETA (PETA.org).
If you would like to receive information and updates, please sign up for PETA E-News at http://www.PETA.org/about/learn-about-peta/subscribe-to-enews.aspx<http://www.peta.org/about/learn-about-peta/subscribe-to-enews.aspx>;.
Thanks again for writing and for your interest in animal rights.
Sincerely,
The PETA Staff

Hmmm...wastes valuable time you say?

Should that read "Drones, and their remotely piloted vehicles" ?
-
Wait until we get PETR (People for the Ethical Treatment of Robots). Then they'll start harassing PETA for putting them in harms way.

PETA is selling them for $25 over what they are going for on Amazon and $45 over what you can do on eBay...
Guess they are proud of their decal set.
Maybe we should get a few, put 2nd Amendment decals on them and have them alternate circling the houses of the leaders of PETA.
Of course $300 buys a bit of ammo though.

I have one word for PETA and their drones: PULL !!!!

All this noise about PETA...
I don't understand the reasons :-\
Who could find fault with People Eating Tasty Animals?
I believe there is room for all of God's creatures...
On a plate, next to the mashed taters. ;)

Hi;
that news report of the drone being shoot down was filed in Feb 17, 2012.......
Just a few questions;
why did the supposed shooters leave the property ? Stay on it and shoot the intruder.
if the shooters were that close to the property - then the perp ( operator ) of the chopper was probably trespassing.
The range of the radio control is not that far. Is the operator that stupid to take a chance that he would loose contact/control of the chopper ? They are not cheap....

You need meat to promote healthy brain activity.
Which explains why Vegans are such dumbasses.

it would be intresting to see who gets into more trouble. you are willfully destroying property with a fire arm. I would only shoot one while duck hunting,( said earlier in the thread) as its a federally protected deal. So molesting them will get you in trouble on the federal level as well as state. While it would feel great to shoot one down, i think it would be more fun to get them arested and have thier toy locked away for good by the game wardens.

STOP THE THREAT!!!
If you watch the video you will see the activists harassing the hunters. That is a threat!
STOP THE THREAT!!!
In the second link where the hunters shot one down, they did the correct thing by leaving the drone in the field and leaving. It follows self defense measures perfectly. Well, not perfectly. After leaving they should have called it in as soon as possible. It is possible they reported it, but since PETA or their ilk posted this there is no way to get the full story.
