Title: Term Defined Please???
Post by: Ksail101 on May 27, 2008, 09:02:30 PM
The new Michael Bane phrase of the week is "Contractor Casual." When I hear this I think of one of those pictures in a magazine for 5.11 gear where a guy is in Khaki cargo pants and Oakley\Wiley-X sunglasses with an M-4 slung across his chest. But I know Mr. Bane means this in a way of conversation between two people or maybe a group of how to be trained per se. I am not sure what it means so if someone would like to explain that would be awesome. Maybe if you have a rant about a place, person, show,  or mag that does this alot would be cool too,

Ksail,

Just listened to the Podcast (finally!) and heard the 'contractor casual' remark.  Sounds like guys that are sittin' around swapping war stories that though interesting, do not translate well to everyday situations like in the 7-11, Wal mart etc that WE may run into.

Mr. Bane used this term defining what his new personal defense show would not be. Also I believe he used this in a video recently on DR videos. I just wanted to hear an instance or a rant on this subject so I could understand what he means. But it seems like it maybe a phrase noone knows about. Another DR exclusive.

Defensive Tactics TV. I like the name of that too by the way for the show.

I have heard the term "Contractor Casual" to refer to a style of dress...jeans, t-shirt with over shirt or vest, work boots, that kind of thing. Just the right clothes for concealed carry. Unless you're a plumber....then you need all those clothing items but with stains on them.
