Title: Anybody own a Rohrbaugh?
Post by: twyacht on May 29, 2008, 06:17:01 AM
Caught this ad in American Handgunner mag. and it seem s like the top of the heap for a pocket pistol.

9mm, and oh, ITS $1000.00 :o

I like my Walther PPK/S and my Kel-Tec P3AT. as far as everyday carry.

I thought the Kahr's were expensive,...

I looked into these one time and read a few aritcle and reviews that said the springs were very suspect and needed to be changed after 500 rounds or so.

For the money, I should be able to just shoot the hell out of it,and keep routine maint. didn't expect to have to "replace" parts every x number of rounds on those fancy-dancy pistols.  ???

Thanks Hazcat.

I've heard good things, but yes they are expensive (They have carbon fiber grips  :o). I'd love to have a pocket pistol in 9mm (twice the punch as a .380), but for the same price I'd go out and buy a Glock 26 for concealed carry and a Glock 21 for the night stand.

I never heard of it but if I need more power than a .380, I think it's going to be a .45 for me. I have an extreme dislike for 9mms. The only way to get decent performance out of it is using higher than standard pressure loads. They try to make it perform like a .45 but it can't.

I've handled them at SHOT, but never shot one. The price point is steep, and I'm not sure that a 9mm in that size package is such a great idea. The Kel-Tec P11 is a handful (it's also a lot cheaper if you want a little pocket 9mm). My pick of that particular litter would be Wilson Combat's ADP, slightly larger but a good shooting little 9mm.

Well, aside from the fact that I'm a .45 ACP fan, the $1000 price tag Is too rich for my blood. If I were going to get a pocket Nine, I'd save a bit of money and go with a Kahr PM9. But instead, I'll get the Kahr PM45 when I'm ready to get that pocket pistol.

Not a bad looking gun (especially in OD Green), but for my money I'd go get a Glock 26 and spend the extra $100 or so on range time. Safety on the ADP looks a little strange too - don't know if I would like that.
