Since when do we fly flags at half staff to honor hard line communists married to murderers? This country is going insane. Look at what's happened to South Africa under this ass clown. It's turned into yet another impoverished, corrupt, disease ridden stink hole, with a soaring crime rate, and plummeting property values. Sound familiar? 70% of black women in South Africa are HIV positive. That country has gone from the economic powerhouse of Africa under
Willem de Klerk , to another country that has had it's prosperity stolen by corruption.
And for this he is called "A Great Man"? I'd hate like hell to hear they're definition of an idiot. First it was that moron Christie lowering the flag for that crack whore Whitney Houston, and now this. What are they going to do when Jay Z. or that idiot Puff Dick dies? Bury them in the front yard of the White House? I don't weep for my country. The government needs to be soaked in a salt bath and exposed to 440 volts. They certainly couldn't short circuit their brains any more than they already are.
With that I'm off to work, to pay over double for my health care.......Courtesy of yet another..."Great Man".

"The South African Truth and Reconciliation commission found "Ms Winnie Madikizela Mandela politically and morally accountable for the gross violations of human rights", concluding that she had personally been responsible for the murder, torture, abduction and assault of numerous men, women and children, as well as indirectly responsible for even larger number of such crimes."

He formed "The Tip of The Spear" terrorist organization which was responsible for the bombing of various 'soft targets' - white frequented shopping centres etc. - that's why he was in jail, not for being black. Shoulda been hanged then, SA could not have done any worse.

Well we did elect as president, twice in fact, a hard line communists who was mentored by a murder.

When your culture is bereft of actual heroes, you will attach that title and veneration to whomever or whatever stands out.
In evidence, I give you Barack Hussein O'damna, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan, any of the "gangsta rap" so called artists...
The list goes on and includes Mandela and his murderous wife.
So complete has been the associated brainwashing of this culture that true black heroes like Col. West, Dr. Ben Carson, Supreme Court Justice Thomas and so many others are vilified and denigrated, accused of "acting white."
It is a pernicious evil besetting the black culture in this country. As they are given more for doing less, they want it all for doing nothing. Slavery and the attendant reparations/welfare/coddling have served to produce a hateful underclass that is resentful of any success and does not have the moral fiber to attempt true excellence. So they elevate unexceptional, unqualified, undeserving examples to hero status.
I weep for my nation,

We all know History is written by the winners or at least those in charge at the moment and the Mandellas have been sanitized to the point of fiction.
They were guilty of some of the worst horrors imaginable to both White and Black opponents, the one that I think of when I hear their names is the gasoline soaked car tire placed around their victims and set on fire!

Saturday morning Prayer meeting takes me to town. After the meeting I did the standard gas station stop (wife's car is always empty), and some groceries. On the way out of town I saw the big Toro plant has its flags all at half staff. It had better be because of Pearl Harbor!!!

Sad :'(
I just looked it up, and Pres. BHO ordered half staff until sunset on the 9th to honor Mandela.
Why >:(
-
Hi;
My Flag is at full staff....I have not noticed any other property owner with theirs at half staff...
Some people see past the BS....

This is the ass wipe they're "honoring".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umkhonto_we_Sizwe
"In the 1985 Amanzimtoti bomb on the Natal South Coast, five civilians were killed and 40 were injured when MK cadre Andrew Sibusiso Zondo detonated an explosive in a rubbish bin at a shopping center shortly before Christmas. In a submission to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), the ANC stated that Zondo acted on orders after a recent SADF raid in Lesotho.
In the 1986 Durban beach-front bombing, a bomb was detonated in a bar, killing three civilians and injuring 69. Robert McBride received the death penalty for this bombing which became known as the "Magoo's Bar bombing". Although the subsequent Truth and Reconciliation Committee called the bombing a "gross violation of human rights", McBride received amnesty and became a senior police officer.
In 1987, an explosion outside a Johannesburg court killed three people and injured 10; a court in Newcastle had been attacked in a similar way the previous year, injuring 24. In 1987, a bomb exploded at a military command center in Johannesburg, killing one person and injuring 68 personnel.
The bombing campaign continued with attacks on a series of soft targets, including a bank in Roodepoort in 1988, in which four civilians were killed and 18 injured. Also in 1988, in a bomb detonation outside a magistrate's court killed three. At the Ellis Park rugby stadium in Johannesburg, a car bomb killed two and injured 37 civilians. A multitude of bombs in "Wimpy Bar" fast food outlets and supermarkets occurred during the late 1980s, killing and wounding many people. Wimpy were specifically targeted because of their perceived rigid enforcements of many Apartheid-era laws, including excluding people of color from their restaurants. Several other bombings occurred, with smaller numbers of casualties."

Like, Menachem Begin, and Yasser Arafat ?

I don't have a real deep understanding of Mandela. I know he was a terrorist and was in jail for along time over it. I know some of his wives were whitey haters. If I was black in south africa I might have been a whitey hater too.
I DO know that when he got out and became president, even though there may have been backroom politics, underground deeds, etc., when it came down to the wire and EVERYONE was listening, he said, "Forgive".
Some people have their entire lives blown up over one statement. This direction MADE his legacy...people took it for gospel and got some stuff done.
Over all it was a plus for everyone there. Hutus and Booboos or whatever they are called are NOT busy hacking each other up with garden tools and angle iron, and over all that's a good thing.
I'm not going out to cheer or celebrate his sainthood, but I'm also not going to join in with those who condemn him for a photo from 40 years ago. The guy was trying to get s*** done. If one of you guys was trying to preserve the Constitution right now there's a good chance you'd be labeled a terrorist. Hell, you get that label just for believing in the Constitution, much less trying to defend it.
I think it's wasted energy to fight the "Santa Clausification" of Mandela. Everybody needs a hero.
Now half staff here in the US and Obama acting like Jesus got crucified again? Stupid theatre. I've talked to a lot of people who are all Mandela this and Mandela that, and don't even know WHY he was in prison. Same old crap. Black folks that don't care because he's black and thast all that matters, and white folks that are uninformed and are spouting what they read in their liberal rags without knowing any facts. SOS.
-
Wow...funny. I just realized my avatar looks like a Affrikaner guitar player.
-
I get the fact if you're black, and living in South Africa under Apartheid you would think Mandela is a "hero". Many blacks living here think Obama is a "hero", in spite of the fact he is destroying the very foundation this country was built on. This whole thing boils down to Capitalism vs. Communism, and the haves vs. The have not's. Nothing more.
Mandela is / was a Communist of the highest order, just like Obama. The fact is and remains that most blacks are have not's. Here, in South Africa, as well as most of the rest of the civilized world. That is not a "racist" statement, but rather one of fact. The past white leaders of South Africa were Capitalists. The country flourished economically under their rule. The problem the blacks had with that form of government is, much like here, they weren't participants in it. So because of that, much like here, they wanted to be ruled by "their own people". They got their wish under Mandela. They got it here under Obama. There is more to it than that, but that's basically it in a nutshell.
Under the Communist rule of Mandela, and subsequent black leaders like Jacob Zuma, the have not's, (blacks), were provided for in a manner they were not under Deklerk and other white rulers of that country. In the process the entire country was brought down to it's knees economically, just like every other white run nation in Africa that was handed over to the blacks. Rhodesia / Zimbabwe come to mind as an epic failure in Africa under current black rule. Hard to match Zimbabwe's inflation rate unless Obama declared Monopoly money to be real.
Much the same thing happened here. Look at Detroit, Chicago, and California if you want to see the result of veering away from Capitalism, and "leveling the playing field" by "spreading the wealth around". These cities and states are either already wastelands, (Detroit), or else they are well on their way to becoming that. (Chicago and California). Too many have not's, (minorities), while the producing people, (white haves), are moving out. The exact same thing is happening today in South Africa. The blacks are essentially celebrating fewer jobs, higher crime rates, lower property values, (think Detroit), under the Communistic rule they so wanted to have. The result is the wealth they so wanted "spread around", is quickly disappearing.
For all of this they think Mandela is / was "great". That's the same as blacks telling us today how great Detroit has evolved under Democratic, (Communist), rule. This is all nothing more than pi$$ing on their heads and telling them it's raining, and they're all believing it because they're now being ruled blacks. South Africa did what many nations in Africa have done, and the result is exactly the same. Under white rule they flourished economically, while under black rule they collapsed the economy, simply because people with money can't get out fast enough. Again, think New York, Illinois, and Detroit, who's large tax base that is required to support all these idiots, is quickly drying up. This is all as predictable as rain pouring out of dark clouds. But the blacks don't care because they've got to have their "heroes". The problem is much like here, they keep choosing idiots. All the smart blacks they want no part of, because in they're eyes they've all "gone white", (read become educated and successful).

History has proven that many activists and political changers backed by the western world often turn out to be as bad or worse than who we were trying to change. This brings to mind an entirely different discussion, but for this thread I ask why we bestow such a high honor on a person of questionable method except for political correctness and political gain.
Perhaps our nation should reserve its honors for members of this nation and those closest to us.
Let me throw something out there for consideration:
As we backed Mandella there were actually many charges from South Africa and other nations that he committed reverse discrimination that smacked of revenge rather than correction or punishment. I also recall that he moved to a very high lifestyle at the expense of those he was supposed to be helping. Oh, wait a minute, that is exactly what our political leaders would applaud and aspire to >:(

You do know he was a member of a "royal family" right? tribalism adds a whole nother level to the race card. isn't funny how the leaders of socalist/commie movements were always rich or some how "higher" then the group they reprosent?

It's no different here. The wealthy Hollywood elite are all gung ho Communists. You never heard a word out of them when they were struggling to make it. As soon as they did most all of them became instant Socialists. Do as I say, not as I did.

Don't forget to add the "Share the wealth, just not my wealth" part to the picture.

Much of the time, we older guys can't recall what the years have taken from us unless it is pretty much written down. Maybe that's not important, per se', because what we often do have is an opinion that was formed when the facts were fresh. Below is a good synopsis from a missionary concerning Mandela.
First though, let me say we had that missionary, Charl van Wyk, speak at our church a couple of years ago and specifically about his experience of shooting back at some guys who broke into his church in Africa with AK's. He went full circle in the Christian experience of defending one's family and friends then of forgiveness towards someone who wronged you and lastly offered the gospel to at least one of the those guys with the AK's. Again..I don't remember exactly his experience but I did take away with his message of both being able to defend one's self with lethal force and also forgiveness and presenting the Gospel to others.
So I received one of Charl's regular emails last night. In it he described his perspective of Mandela which I think is good...it was also on WND but I missed that. I put the WND link below and copied his email below that.

NELSON MANDELA: A MISSIONARY PERSPECTIVE
All week we’ve watched the international media and heads of state hail Nelson Mandela as a redeemer, even likening him to Jesus Christ. Some, albeit far fewer, reports make mention of his ties to terrorism and communism.
Let’s take a closer look at some lesser-known facts about Nelson Mandela and his brothers in arms – and see why there’s little middle ground with regard to loving or hating the man.
Terrorist or freedom fighter?
Mandela cofounded MK (“Spear of the Nation”), the armed wing of the African National Congress, or ANC.
His decision to adopt the armed struggle was controversial. Many black Africans remained devout Christians and opposed the use of violence.
The USSR, seeing an opportunity to control the minerals and trade supply route of Southern Africa, endorsed the move and stood by to assist in implementation.
Mandela’s movement asserted that all nonviolent means had been exhausted in attempting to deal with the Nationalist government. And the Sharpeville massacre – and other atrocities by the white-minority government – made that statement ring true. But others doubted this, believing strikes, civil disobedience and boycotts posed a better path to advance the cause of the black majority.
South African society is complicated! Many blame communist agitation for the war against the white minority government. That’s not entirely true. Black Africans endured real grievances. The communists exploited these to great effect.
MK first attacked government installations. But soon, it turned on soft targets, where innocent victims were shot, hacked or burned to death. Mandela faced charges in the Rivonia Trial. Convicted of sabotage and conspiracy to overthrow the government, he and eight others received, in 1964, life sentences.
Many blacks argue that the court was controlled by whites and, therefore, illegitimate.
Please note: Mandela was not a political prisoner, a status which even Amnesty International refused to grant.
He wasn’t charged with crimes of conscience, like many Christians languishing in prisons of communist and Islamic countries. While in prison, he wrote, “How to Be a Good Communist,” evidence later used against him.
Prior to his Feb. 4, 1990, release, after 27 years in prison, he was offered conditional release if he would reject violence as a political tool. He refused.
Under Mandela’s command, and with his knowledge and approval while in prison, MK waged a war with no distinction between combatants and civilians. All were targets in this “people’s war.” The violence was largely blamed on the government and Inkatha, a large internal rival movement calling for liberation through nonviolent means.
A “just war,” and “just means,” some argued. Consider such means, namely the Winnie Mandela necklace. Nelson’s wife, and others in the ANC, terrorized blacks deemed “against the struggle” with this barbaric method of murder – learned in terror-training camps in Angola and Mozambique. Tying the victim’s hands behind their back with barbed wire (or hacking them off), ANC members placed a gas-soaked tire around the victim’s neck and lit it aflame.
The molten tire melted into their skin, and they died a very painful and terrible death.
In “Shooting Back: The Right and Duty of Self-Defense,” Van Wyk makes a biblical, Christian case for individuals arming themselves with guns, and does so more persuasively than perhaps any other author – because he found himself in a church attacked by terrorists.
As president
Although the world heralds his rise from prisoner to president, his time in office receives little examination. South Africans understand the corruption of his rule, and his legacy continues to spiritually debase the nation. Many try to separate the man from his colleagues – and socialist and immoral party policies – but leaders must take responsibility.
When he came to power, prayer recited aloud was removed from Parliament.
The ANC under Mandela’s presidency rejected reference to God in the new constitution; only after 30,000 Christians marched to parliament on the issue, they relented.
In June 1995, his orders caused the massacre of 19 Inkatha Freedom Party members taking part in a peaceful demonstration at Shell House, the headquarters of Mandela’s political party.
During a vote legalizing abortion on demand, he refused to grant members of Parliament an option to vote pro-life and not violate their values and conscience. Catholic members who rejected this approach and didn’t attend were fined. More than 1 million innocent lives have been taken since this law was passed.
His government moved to disarm legal firearm owners. Fortunately, this move birthed Gun Owners of South Africa and the Black Gun Owners Association (whose black members struggled to attain legal firearms under the former white government and refused to relinquish them to Mandela’s government).
Graça, his present wife, and Nelson lived and traveled together before marriage. This led to a Christian parliamentarian publically asking him what kind of example he was presenting our youth.
Pornography was legalized, leading to a 400 percent increase in child rape cases in South Africa. Even child pornography, for the sake of artistic and literary expression, was OK under his presidency.
His administration’s constitution paved the way for same-sex marriage by giving sexual orientation the same protections as race and religion.
When subpoenaed to appear in court in 1998, the judge accused him of being an unreliable witness.
On the other hand …
Many, including Christians, respect Mandela for his attitude of forgiveness for those who imprisoned him. But his incarceration was due to being criminally convicted. I don’t remember him asking for forgiveness from families of those who he and his MK cadres murdered or maimed. Nor did he seek forgiveness from those who suffered – with his full knowledge – in concentration camps run by his organization in Angola and Tanzania. In Quatro, prisoners suffered horrendously cruel human rights abuses.
He condemned violence – but then, only the violence perpetrated by others, not those of MK or Winnie’s infamous Mandela United football club.
Praises ring out for Mandela for not having started a civil war in South Africa. Yet, from 1984-1994 some 20,500 people were murdered during the people’s war – mostly black-on-black violence between rivals for the prize of the South African white government.
Staggering numbers? Yes. But consider that when Mandela took power, the murder count rose to more than 20,000 lives. Every year!
Mandela publically denounced racism, but then reintroduced racial discrimination with the policy of Black Economic Empowerment, or BEE. South Africa is the only country in the world to introduce BEE for the majority of the population and not for a minority group. Hundreds of thousands fled the country and settled in other Western nations.
If racial discrimination by apartheid was evil, then surely racial discrimination through BEE is as well.
Soberly examining the man
Though blessed with great charisma, showing flair of good will and respect from people worldwide, Mandela also had flaws and shortcomings – like you and I. He was a great leader for, and of, “his people,” of which I respectfully was not one.
We do not absolve the previous government of its evils or cruelty. But observers are challenged to open their eyes and soberly examine the man, without falling victim to blinding propaganda of the media’s designation of sainthood.
We can still properly mourn his passing. I’m sad that Mandela is gone. After all, the Bible tells us: “Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?” Ezekiel 18:23. God’s Word also tells us how Christians should assess the character of politicians. We shouldn’t idolize Mandela or any other man. We are however commanded: “Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king” 1 Peter 2:17.
Christ is King! Although I fought in a war against Mandela’s Communist friends, had my car stoned by his supporters and survived a terrorist attack by his network partners – after which I reached out to them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ – I hold no bitterness against him. That war is over.
But the war of worldviews is now in full swing.
