For those of you who've "befriended" me or I've "befriended" you....let it be known that I've deleted my Facebook account.
Too much drama and intrusiveness on the site for me! I spend too much time behind an LCD screen and my Doctor said I gotta lose a few pounds. Sitting on my ass is going to kill me eventually! I'm taking a que from TT and going to start moving more and eating less!
Nothing personal...

I need to do the same and not looking forward to what the doc has to say to me. My appointments this fall all got scrapped when they decided my bride needed to be field dressed and rebuilt at Mayo. Now that that is over I need to wait a few months for time off.
Take care of yourself Timmy, and keep us posted. Terrible Tom is doing so well I didn't even notice the eclipse when he breezed through town.

Clean physical, clean colon, clean prostate, good BP, cholesterol is fine... Extra weight...not good!
I was given a gift when I crawled out from under a minivan eight years ago! I need to make the best of things..
-
Understand completely, Tim...... good wishes for success.
Just had a visit with one of my docs today........ got the same thing.... bloodwork and BP is good.......just work on the weight......
I haven't gained any in five years.... I just haven't lost any either.
(hard to get motivated when the pain overrides the benefits..... but I have developed a strong will-power not to eat the many cakes that are always about).

My issue as well, Peg! I at least have the benefit of both left feet!
:)

After the holidays, I plan on a better upper body exercise routine....anything to get the heart rate up. Can't do the exercise bike, treadmill, or elliptical (we have two ellipticals and my left knee will not bend enough to make it a revolution on either).
I really don't eat like folks would think, based solely on my appearance.......and with all the cakes the wife bakes, I only eat about one slice a month (did you notice the slice of key-lime cake on FB last week? that was it) .......
And hey, I have three left feet. :D ;D
One is even special.....

I bought the total gym a few years ago! It will kick your ass in short order... I used it pretty hard the first year, then I started working again and lost motivation. Time to get back at it.

I had to retire almost 3 years ago due to health reasons, bad back, knees, nsulin pump and etc.ostlywhat I have done is sit in front of my computer since there isn't a lot of physical activity I can do.About 3 months ago I joined the local You-Fit gym and I work out fairley hard and I'm seeing positive results already like lower blood sugars and return of muscle mass.I'm not looking to bulk up,merely strength and some definition.I know there are a ot of guys in my age range who have grown soft and flabby but I intend to go down fighting.

Share the Link/Info if you can TAB. I know I'd be interested. Us older folks don't have quite the balance we did when we were young punks...and a tumble is much more risky as you age.

Hey Peg, have you tried a rowing machine?
-
ROwing machines are my favorite "machine" you can do cardio or crank up the resistance and work your arms and legs( not as much) you can even change you grip and hit diffrent parts of the muscle group. sadly they are not great if you have knees like mine after 25 years of wrestling.

Hey Peg, have you tried a rowing machine?
When I was going through physical therapy, I tried a rowing machine, but my left knee only has about 20 degrees for range of motion, and would not allow full rowing motion.....which is the same result I get on an elliptical and stationary bike.
The only two aerobic machines I could use at the therapist was an upper-body stationary cycle and cross-trainer machine that mimicked skiing while sitting down.
They make table-top mounted upper-body resistance cycles that are relatively inexpensive, so I may try one of those just to get started into it again.

Some of the better rowing machines have a feature that allows you to lock the seat in place. If you do that, you can take the legs out of the equation and just use upper body (back and arms).
If you haven't tried it yet, you could also take the bad leg off and just strap your good leg into the foot pad for a full body workout that way.

I have a friend with a rowing machine for sale.... I might just check to see if the seat locks.....

even if it does not a couple of clamps will make it work. not the best, but cheap enough and removalable.
