Sometimes you don't realize how good an actor somebody is till you see them out of character..
I always liked the guy in his roles but I never made the connection between him and "Priam" in "Troy"..
It never occurred to me..
Another one of those things for me was Tommy Lee Jones in the role of the gay guy in JFK. I never made the connection till some years later when somebody mentioned it..
He was a good actor. Don't know this politics.
R.I.P.

If you haven't seen "The Stunt Man", "Lawrence Of Arabia" or "My Favorite Year", now would be a good time to find them and watch them.
Lawrence of Arabia might be my favorite movie of all-time. David Lean's unbelievable cinematography. O'Toole. Guinness. Shariff. Ferrer. Raines. Quinn. The moments... O'Toole staring in horror at the bloody dagger in his bloody hand. José Ferrer licking his lips. Omar Shariff riding out of the mirage...
The lines. "Nothing is written." "I have very long ears."/"Yes, and a long tongue between them." "He likes your lemonade."
We just won't see movies like that anymore.

Hi;
Lot's of "older" Actors/Actresses not being used for their talents. They are not looking for Academy Awards - they just want to act.
Sean Connery (007) in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade The what about others ...Space Cowboys...Cocoon Etc...
There are far and few of the Younger "Stars" that would hold a candle to the "older" people....

THe old actors had to have talent, and they had to go to all kinds of classes. It was part of your contract with a studios. Now its all about whos kid / relative you are . Like many great things its now a jole

If you want to see a really good movie sometime, watch "Rolling Thunder", (1977), with William Devane and Tommy Lee Jones before they became big stars.
