Has anyone experienced this? I ask because a few years back we had moths in our large, walk in bedroom closet. The only damage was to a few of my cotton tee shirts. We bought mothballs and a few of those moth cakes you hang on the racks, and the problem disappeared.
I keep gun cases all over the house, (empty). Under the bed, in other closets, etc. I pull them out to check them from time to time and have not experienced any problems. Do moths only eat natural fibers like cotton or wool? Or will they attack anything like Nylon and or Cordura? I'm more concerned about the imitation fleece and felt lining some of them have. Here in Arizona, and in the warmer climates the problem seems more common. Just looking for general knowledge here. My insect intelligence is low. Never paid much attention in Biology class.

I've never had the problem...and have had some cases boxed for a few years with no problem...but I did find this as a non-toxic recommendation for moth repellant. Don't know how the gun case would like it, but if it is used on clothes, the gun case can probably stand it.
Wool Moth Spray
If you have wool moths already, the best spray is to make one of neem oil, adding 1/4 cup of neem oil to 1/2 gallon water, with a dab of liquid castile soap, in a spray bottle.

I guess it would keep you from getting moths if you don't have them already.

What is it about Cedar that they hate? Is it something the Cedar contains, or just the smell they don't like?

Cedar has a lot of natural anti bug and fungi propertys, i am not sure if its the smell or something else it gives off, i just know it works.
