Hi;
To be honest, I buy a PA Hunting licence every year.....Mainly , I use it to ( have to ) use the State Game Ranges....I have no need to kill....always glad/happy to see the harvested deer on the vehicles driveing back home....
During a part of my life - I understand the part of being hunted....Still - will not hesitate to pull the trigger.
For now...I just enjoy life and leave enough alone....

My license is under renewal so I can't legally hunt till that's resolved. SIL gave me some venison though!

I didn't get drawn for Elk but saw 2 TROPHY bulls walk by within 30 yards. Too bad my buddy with the tag & rifle was a .8 of mile away. (I came along as a meat cutter)
I don't hunt deer every year and this one they got a pass.

Well during muzzle loading season I shot a doe that dressed out to about 80lbs. During rifle season I shot a liittle button buck that dressed out about 60lbs. My uncle and his grandson who hunts with me, they shot 2 bucks a 8 point dressed around 140lbs and a 4 point dressed around 90lbs and 2 does dressing around 80 & 90lbs. After we processed the animals we had well over 225lbs of meat.
Tommorow starts the holiday hunt were we hope to bag another doe apeice.

MN turkey season is kind of screwed up. My season lasted from Tuesday through Saturday, so Friday night and Saturday were the only days I got to hunt. I had a tom at about 60 yards strutting with a few hens, but the 35 mph wind made that a truly impossible shot.
I blasted more honkers this year than ever before. That was mainly due to the fact that my buddy got permission for some really great fields.
I only got 1 lousy duck this year, but it was a beautiful green wing that I'm thinking about getting mounted. My brother had been pounding them all season long and knocking down his daily limit in an hour or so each day, but I never had a chance to get out. When I finally did, we went to his honey hole and only had two birds come by the whole morning. Both were dropped.
Deer season sucked. I hunted in a buck only zone. About 10:00 opening morning, I had a deer stop broadside no more than 30 yards from my stand. The only problem is that it's head was obscured by low hanging branches and I couldn't tell if there were antlers or not. All I could see was the front quarter from the neck down. After about 2 minutes, it turned and as it was heading down the hill, I saw that there was a decent rack but it was too late to shoot. I had my safety off and my sights on the heart/lungs just waiting for it to lower it's head, but it never happened. Bummer, because it was my first time hunting in rifle zone and I really wanted to take a deer with my Enfield.
Second weekend, I had a doe sprint past me with a small buck hot on her tail. I grunted but couldn't get him to stop so I took a few pokes, but hitting a running deer at 75 yards is a tall order.
Yotes and coons are in prime right now and I hope to make it out a few times in the next month or so, but I haven't had a chance yet.

Went to a local dairy twice this year, got a dozen pigeons and (so far) ten mourning doves. Dove season isn't over yet here, so I hope to go back and get ten more as well as a few pigeons.

I don't hunt as much as I did years ago, and we lost a large section of hunting land a few years ago when a neighbor sold off some land, and that cut into my limited hunting even more.
I saw a doe earlier in the year where I sit (a few hundred yards behind our house), but didn't have a great angle for a shot... so I let her walk. Right now is buck-only until December 26th, but I have had too much going on with other things to go hunting.
Fortunately, our younger son has had a good year and supplied us with a couple of deer for the freezer and hooked us up with a new guy that does excellent processing. I would like to get at least one more to have processed into jerky, since we sampled some that the new processor gave us to try (out of this world flavor).

One darn fine eland, after a log, hard, hot stalk...

MB how did it taste?( assuming you actually got to try it.)

Working hard to get permission to hunt feral hogs. No closed season! Some jackhole slobs shot a steer, and peppered a tractor (unoccupied), makes it hard to convince landowners that you're a responsible person that wouldn't do such things.
New gun season in Ohio has deer season all screwed up. Deer went nocturnal very early in the season. Squirrels, rabbits, no upland birds, they are few and far between. Don't hunt waterfowl.

Fatbaldguy you hit the nail on the head. A bunch last year left their beer cans and bottles on the property and shot at everything. Had slugs wizzing overhead. I do not give permission at all anymore.
