Title: MSN poll about no guns policies at restaurants
Post by: justwannashoot on January 01, 2014, 09:46:37 AM
There's a poll over at MSN.com about the controversy over Toby Keith not allowing firearms in his Virginia restaurant.

Toby Keith draws fans' ire with no-guns policy at his restaurants

The country star is under fire in Virginia, where weapons are permitted in eateries.

Would you prefer to go to an eatery that allows guns, or one that bans them?

The numbers are against us right now.

And you expect something different from that audience?  ???

Who cares about what MSN thinks...

Ichiban is right!

As to Keith's gun ban...  What can you expect from a so-called American singing about "Made in America" while playing a Japanese made guitar...

He's a putz!

Polls are fine and dandy, and I play on them as well.  However, the only poll that counts is action.  Vote in November, and vote with your pocketbook.

Remember though that when you vote with your pocketbook you must make sure they know they lost.  Do you have a supply of business cards (two different cards) that you can leave for management:  The first states that you will not patronize their business because of their anti-gun stance.  Walk in, ask for a manager, present them with the card, and walk out the door;  The second is a card that thanks them for their stance.  Patronize the business, and present the manager with the card as you pay your tab.

My favorite is to stop at a gas station, and when I see a no gun sign on the door I still purchase fuel.  However, I don't pay at the pump.  I fill the pick up, and then I go to the building and knock on the window holding up the cash or credit card.  When they tell me to come in I point at the sign and open my jacket so they can see the gun*.  I make them come out, collect my payment, and bring back a receipt.

* Remember, Minnesota is a carry state as opposed to conceal state.  We can show the firearm without breaking the law.  That said, we can also walk right past signs that ban firearms, and we are not breaking the law unless they notify us after they know we have a firearm and we refuse to leave.  But, I don't care about that if I can make a point.

The business card thing just makes you look like an ass and actually hurts gun rights.  Just polititly tell them why and walk away.

How can I state this in terms you will understand ...

Bullshit!!!

Do you write thank you or evaluation notes to businesses?  As a person heavily involved in an industry that relies on relationships and service I want to know what my customer wants.  I want to know what people in need of our industry want.  If you don't let them know they won't know.

There are many times over the past 20 years I would have given my left arm to know why a person did not come to me.  Any owner or manager who cares about their business wants to know and if this offends them they are beyond caring about their business anyway.

handing some one a business card stating your imo is rude, that makes you look like any ass.   politly saying i will no longer use your services becuase i object to this policy.   thats easy and does not make you seem like an ass.

If I'm an ass for giving them written feedback, you are a jerk for stating it.

Granny Smith vs MacIntosh

I want my message sent to the decision maker, and it will get there more intact in written form than verbal.

THere is nothing wrong with written feed back, but a biz card is just rude.  Infact a letter is most likly the best form, a business card is just rude.     would you order something with a business card?

I ignore "no gun" postings.  Of course, I don't carry on school, federal or state courthouse properties, postal offices, etc... but everywhere else I just play stupid...not a stretch for me!   ;D

As to the business card idea?  Seems like a reasonable response to an unreasonable request.  They (the business) have the right to restrict whom they serve but you also have a right to express your opinion!  A "polite" response to a meaningless clerk isn't going to go much further but a card directed toward management might just get some attention especially if followed by a phone call a day or two later.

Not passing on written information to superiors will put you on the unemployment line for cause!

The employee caught in the act of not passing on written information has no defense, and that is the situation they will be in if that card is followed up with a letter or phone call to superiors.

My complaint concerning safe handling of firearms was ignored by two clerks (verbal complaint and demand to stop) and department manager (written complaint).  When I was not satisfied with the silence I went to the top, and the second communication I received was a phone call of apology and open communication from the department manager.  The call was on speaker phone and made from the store manager's office.  At the end of the conversation with the department manager the store manager took over and explained what was being done, and he invited me to stop in and visit with them.  If I plan ahead he promised to do whatever possible for both to be there, and even if they were both off one would change plans to meet my time frame.

I don't think that drift went completely off the road, but I am sure that I am completely on the shoulder.

shit always rolls down hill fast.  Learned that in the uscg.   give the chain of comand an chance, play the game, do the song and dance, if that does not work go as high up as you can get.    i am the kind of person that went to the ceo of a bank over a $5 fee to cash a check drawn from that bank.  The manger said it was free to open account, so i said ok, let open one and close it.  She got pissy, so i looked up the ceo to write them a letter... Turns out they were 5 miles away.  So i paid him a vist and waited in the office for hours.  I was just a little bit hot by the time i saw him.  Funny thing the guy that wrote me the check was ticked too and close his account of about $3 million.  All over $5,  stupid.
