Very sorry for your loss.

Animal lovers are a special breed of humans, generous of spirit, full of empathy, perhaps a little prone to sentimentality, and with hearts as big as a cloudless sky.

Very sad to hear of your loss, Michael. Though we've never met, and most likely never will, we pod people welcome you each week and you become almost like a personal friend. I hear the pain in your voice, I lost a cat 25 years ago in similar circumstance, and still miss him.

I am also sorry for your loss.  You have given us a lovely window into the relationship you had with Pokke-Son.  Our beloved pets are so special.
The things that I see as an animal control officer are often hard on me, and moreover, hard to understand.  One of the most redeeming moments I have experienced in my long journey in this career, is seeing a person's love for their animal when they pass.
To see a big burly guy who could rip you apart with his bare hands, crying like a baby because his little friend has left, makes me take pause, and smile.  There it is.  True love expressed and unstoppable in its expression.  That is the result that I want to see as we match animals with humans.

I lost my little apricot poodle last summer.  A wrecked stray dog from the street, matted, old and unwanted, arthritic, and toothless.  To look at her most would say she was ugly.  But not to me.  Just an incredible being.  Picture a 6'4", big tough man crying for 3 days.  That was me.

Hang in there, Michael.  Thanks for sharing.  A nice tribute to your friend, the Manx.

It's amazing to me how much we miss them when they're gone... You have my deepest sympathy, Michael...

I swear I see him turning a corner in the Bunker, just out of my sight. I would give anything to have him wake me up at dawn again or to rub his long fur one more time. The day after Pokke-San died, my gray parrot Riply sat in his cage all day and just kept calling Pokke's name over and over again.
