North Korea confirms it has landed a man on the Sun

This just in: North Korea has landed a man on the Sun. 17-year-old Hung Il Gong started his journey at 3am this morning, travelling alone, to reach our nearest star, a journey that took him just 4 hours.

A North Korean central news anchorman said during a live broadcast: "We are very delighted to announce a successful mission to put a man on the sun. North Korea has beaten every other country in the world to the sun. Hung Il Gong is a hero and deserves a hero's welcome when he returns home later this evening".

Hung is expected back on Earth in just a few hours time, where he will be greeted by his uncle, and supreme leader: Kim Jong-un. Hung traveled in the cover of darkness, as it would protect him from the harsh, and extreme temperatures of the Sun. Hung will also be bringing back some sun spot samples for his uncle, which I'm sure he will show off to the world in a short amount of time.

The North Korean central news agency is calling the 18-hour mission the "greatest human achievement of our time" - and so they should, landing a man on the Sun, a trip that took 18 hours return, is quite the achievement, all things considered. I wonder if Dennis Rodman considered this a slam dunk for the country.

I suppose it's better than being eaten alive by hungry dogs.

I don't know about that.
The guy eaten by dogs didn't have to go back to living in wonderful N Korea afterwards.
The sun may have just received it's first defector.

Snopes says Jang Sung-taek, Kim Jong-un's uncle wasn't fed to the dogs, but the truth never stands in the way of a great story.

How inscrutable of them! Who knew the sun set even when you weren't on a turning planet?
All this time I thought the Star Trek transporter thingy was fiction!

Is this another "news source" like The Onion?  ;)

The decision to launch at night was a difficult one.....but necessary in their "Mission Control Leaders" opinion!

This is baloney but expected of them to make it sound simple so other countries seem inept for not having done it already.

It is just too far to the sun to make it in a non-stop trip as described.  No one can make the trip in just 4 hours.

They would have to travel in the shadow of Venus and then lay over behind Venus until the start of night time and then head towards Mercury, again using it's shadow and a lay over until night time.

From there the "Run to the Sun" would be the simple matter they describe.

The return trip, of course, would have to follow that same procedure in reverse.

It's only 10 million degrees at the surface. He probably went down there and walked around. We'll be hearing more about this.

I did some googling on this and it does seem like it came from an Onion like website in Ireland. http://waterfordwhispersnews.com/2014/01/21/north-korea-lands-first-ever-man-on-the-sun-confirms-central-news-agency/ (http://waterfordwhispersnews.com/2014/01/21/north-korea-lands-first-ever-man-on-the-sun-confirms-central-news-agency/)

But still is damn funny.
