A waste of time.  A group of socialist/progressive/Marxists on one side and *ussies on the other that deceive themselves into thinking they are not the thieves and liars they are with only a few in the middle who stand for freedom and the people.

Government must change from the bottom up driven by "We the people".  Reliance on a few bums on the top to "save us" is a losers game.

Get active politically on a local level and begin to make a difference.

First, I had personal commitments that kept me from watching the State of the Union Address.  I needed to meet with a person with a personal life in shambles who was reaching out to me for help, and I was finally able to track down a good friend who had an accident and has been hospitalized and institutionalized since the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  I wanted to watch the State of the Union, but priorities are priorities.

That admission of not watching leads me to state I am saddened to hear and see so much apathy toward what the opposition forces are presenting (it also saddens me to view the President of the United States and other elected leaders as opposition).  I did listen to what I could catch of the address after I left the care facility, and I heard the "Official Republican Response", another piece of political fluff that could have gone unsaid.  I also tried to watch a replay of the speech when I go home, but having left at 4:30 am, worked 9 1/2 hours, spent three very stressful hours with friends, and then driving home and hitting the couch at midnight quickly lead to snores.

The State of the Union in no way resembles a true statement of factual state of our nation, and is really more of a campaign speech with full mud slinging.  However, it does give us insight into the coming plans of the opposition:  Full force minimum wage increases, starting with government contracts; common sense gun control; pushing for support of our enemies, and using veto and executive order when he can't get support; and a total contempt for the Courts.

I would rather have spent more time with friends, I would rather have gone to bed when I got home, I would rather have listened to some relaxing music on the three hour drive, but I heard something that is very important:  Executive Order and slams of the Courts.  Full frontal attack on our system of Checks and Balances.

I believe that it is important for all of us who wish to protect and restore this nation that was built around personal freedoms and the blessings it allows to do our best to know what is going on, and what those who would strip our freedoms are planning.

No, I did not see or hear the entire address.  But, had I been able to I would have, and I wish more people made the same choice.

To our rabble rouser Mr. Bogan:
I believe that the President stood behind the podium last night holding the rope, with the noose already tied, and taunted freedom loving Americans.

It was exactly as I thought it would be. He stood there and re-told old lies, told fantasy stories about what has been happening for the past 5 years, and told lies about what he plans to try to do. He told the dems what they want to hear..."We can all have rainbows and unicorns if we all just BELIEVE and stop looking for problems". The dems all cheered for that and the GOP sat staring ahead as if they were against rainbows and unicorns. The speech was made just to make the GOP look like they have a war on unicorns.
As good as Obamma is at speeching, this one rambled as badly as any I had ever seen, and the content was pitiful, but perfect pap for his followers.

Nothing unexpected except for his VERY brief touch on gun control (which has me worried). We are in for more of same except the intensity will be pumped WAY up. He needs to feed his legacy now, and possibly prepare for the day he announces that elections are postponed and he will guide us through the crisis.

I detest this sham of a president.

For the record, I skipped the Chopped marathon and opted to watch "Riddick" on my laptop.

About the same outcome as the SOTU from what I've read about it...  Fantasy and overacting..

I did get to see Katee Sackoff's left boob though...far better than the boobs sitting behind the president...

Yep..

I get your point and agree in general principle with your motivation for watching.

But....... I've heard it all before (over the last few years) and just couldn't do it.
Besides, I can read the high points in the various news outlets in much less time....and without the nauseating effect BHO has on my gastric tract.

m58,

I managed to choke down about 15 minutes of the speech. After that I could no longer watch. As my fiance' sat on the couch looking at me as I watched, she noticed that I was turning as red as the fire in the hearth. She was right. Twice this week I have cried from simultaneous grief and anger. Once on Sunday night, when we went and watched Lone Survivor, and once aging during the SOTU. I watched while Obama trotted out his requisite prop, this time a severely injured veteran. And proceeded to tell us how great the military is, and how he will do everything he can to give them the tools and help they need. I was FUMING, and noticed that the Joint Chiefs were NOT amused. That's when I went out to check on the horses, before I through something through the TV.

I understand your thinking, but there is nothing that this man(?) can say that I have any interest in. He is the epitome of "you know they're lying if their lips are moving". You can't trust a word out of him, so why bother listening. We know what he's about, and we know what he wants to do to the nation. I don't need to hear it spun.

Alright guys, check this out.  Jimmy Kimmel's "Lie Witness News" interviewed people on the street the day BEFORE the State of the Union Address and got people's opinion of the address.

REMEMBER...these people vote.  What total buffoons!

I read somewhere, I can't remember where, that this SoTU was the least watched since 2000. That sounds right to me.
