I'm heavily leaning to spending some tax return on a new Beretta M9. I wish someone would talk me out of it. I had a real beat up 92fs a few years ago that I sold to a guy for him to rebuild and refinish it with the plan I'd buy a new one later.
I contemplated a new 92A1 till I realized there aren't a lot of holsters made for them yet. So now I'm really debating one. Leaning to the M9 (Beretta's civilian M9), but the 92a1 is interesting. Or not get one at all. HELP (and by help I mean push me over the edge so I can quit holding myself back).

G4L, DO NOT spend that money on any 92.
There are much better things we can do with it.

Had one and got rid of it. The SRT drove me nuts. And for the $900 I paid for it I was quite dissatisfied. I should have just bought a 229.

I'm not a big fan of the 92. Big, bulky, not a lot of aftermarket. Why not just get a 9mm 1911? Or a P38. Either would go with you Garand collection.

I won't repost my paragraph long rant about 1911s I put on wethearmed but in short. I think 1911s are being held up as something more than they are. I like them and have nothing against them but over the last 10 years I've lost any interest in them.

I know that in some circle that's heresy, but it's how I feel as well. I think they're fine for unlimited competition, for "operators" or SWAT, but..... <oops said to much, I could get severely ostracized>
Go for something else. DA/SA you have Sig and Walther P99 and several others.

CZ-75B. They are reasonably priced, all metal (unless you prefer plastic), and come in 9, 40 or 45 at a minimum. They won't have the issue of the slotted metal slide causing problems catching on stuff just to address weight issues. Capacity is 16 or so, mags are plentiful, parts are plentiful and the slide is on the inside rather than the outside like the 1911 which does make them more inherently accurate.
Basic black, brushed SS or...like the one I got a couple of weeks ago...polished SS that looks like chrome without the problems of chrome.
