It never ceases to amaze me that so many people don't know that democracy is mob rule.
Even the *talking heads of our government have lost the true meaning of democracy and republic.

*I call them talking heads because the banks and mega-buck corporations run this country, not the politicians. They are figure heads like the boob blathering on in your evening news broadcast that gets paid to read out loud.

When people get soft and lazy, they tend to take what they have for granate...and at the expense of others who gave all.

This has always been one of my pet peeves.  People saying "you can't do that, this is a democracy" or "We live in a democracy where we vote on ....".

I politely point out that 'no, we do not live in a democracy, we live in a republic".  They invariably say "Well, that's just a a form of democracy".  To which I say "Please name the 'other forms' of democracy". Silence ensues.

Often they try to point out how democracy and republics are the same by saying we elect our leaders with a majority.  I point out that it is most often a plurality and that in actuality the electoral college was set up just to defeat the 'popular vote'.

Many of these people are my age and I wonder what they were doing when this was taught to them and how the heck  they made it this far and still don't know the form of government under which they live!

Sadly, ask an elementary or middle school student, high school, I'll wager a box of ammo and a six-pack, 75% of college students, are taught and recite like good little indoctrinated kids that the US is a democracy.

Neal Boortz calls them gov't schools, not public schools, and blaming the teachers AND the parents for not getting it right only promotes another generation of ignorant citizens.

Disclaimer: I know there are exceptions, home school, private school, even really good teacher in gov't schools, but they are in the minority.

That is pretty accurate!

It seems that I describe this to younger people everyday  and they still do not get it , until I recite the Pledge of allegiance to them, and the line that gets them is AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS!

Excellent.  If time permits, you should read the youtube comments people have left and really get your blood boiling.  As Mr. Boortz says, "Dumb Masses"
