:'(
I took my wife looking at guns today (my father's day gift to me) and, surprise, suprise, she actually spent time looking at them and enjoyed learning how they operated. We looked at Sig 239 Elites (right #?) in 9mm all purtied up and smoothed for carry, CZ 2075, M&P compacts, Walther's, Springfield XD's, Lady Smith.....you name it all the way to Kimber Ultra Carries. All of those pretty and nice guns and what does she want....a Glock 26 w/extended mag and a Crimson Trace for carry. Arrrgggghhhh!
I feel so betrayed. :'(
Is there anything I can do to get her back?

I think all you can do is love her anyway. This is going to take time. Stay firm and diligent! ;D

I think you are right. She keeps saying "It's for the children" so she can be mother hen.....I suppose I'm just going to have to get used to it... she even picked out holsters for it. I'm sorry....I just can't go on...... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

She has to buy her own ammo and range time,.... ;D ;D ;D
-
Yep, buy a stylish black rifle to go with her new black gun and start practicing your shooting. Because one she gets comfortable with little black gun, she'll be hard to beat. It took years for me to finally break down and buy a Glock, now my 30 is my everyday carry gun, I own a Stag Arms lefty and am starting to get the itch for an Arma-Lite AR-10.
You bought your wife an excellent, uber-reliable firearm and she'll be well defended if ever in need.
Glock...the original point and click interface.

Hmmmm....she has been suspiciously eyeing up both of my Bushmasters....especially the one with the EOTech and AAC M4-2000. She can use either one she wants....but the supressor stays with me....by golly that would be going too far!!!

That says a lot about your wife in a very positive way. She likes functionality and doesn't really care how butt ugly it is.
Honestly, I would have to change my man panties if my wife ever wanted to go look at much less buy a new gun. Happy Father's Day!

+1 Roj J Used to go shooting with my girlfriend (now wife) but she didn't like being ignored - I get in a zone when I compete/shoot. Never had a chance to go plink with her along.

As I recall, ladies are influenced by what the other ladies think. Perhaps, if she "did lunch" with some Sig packin' gals, she would see the light and dump the Block. Why do they have to be so SQUARE anyway?
Mac. ???

You guys are just afraid of independent minded women who just might out shoot you......To be honest so am I. :o

Hey! Possibly an idea for a segment on Mr. Bane’s new show …. Women sharing how to accessorize their SIGS with Hogue Aluminum Grips to match their outfits. Kind of like one of those “design” or “makeover” shows.
Every one of those shows has at least one really effeminate dude on so Michael’s producers would have to recruit one. Maybe one of the guys from “Queer Eye” is looking for a job and would be available. I think it would be a RIOT to hear one of those guys say “Glock” on TV!
-
Ron J, I thought Neon's comment was the best till that last one. ;D

Now this is what she really needs if she sticks with glock.

That would be hilarious, as long as there aren't any "caliber" debates. ;D

I like the idea of "Buy A Glock and Get a Cookie!"
Neon:

I would be laughing so hard that I would have to double wrap myself in two pair of Depends if they did!

"And now, with your rugged right hand, firmly grasp the butt..." :o :o
Guys, I'd really have to think that over. There may be impressionable children present.

Well...you are right, he went off again. I wonder....do you think those little emoticommie thingies are spies for Bill Gates and Vista?
Also...pink Glock, yes that is what she wants....where do you send them to make 'em all pink?

Order Dura-coat from Midway.

Possibly the worst thing one can do to their bank account is to mention Dura-coat to a gun toting fashionista. With every dress there would be a matching pistol.......and then theres the shoes.

Maybe, but she will complain less when you want something in Dark Blue, or basic black (http://www.mazeguy.net/happy/cloud9.gif)

But then she'll say "How many times do I have to tell you those pants do not go with the stainless Colt LWC, now put that blue Glock 19 on and get to work!" ;D

Would you rather hear that, or, " How many .45's do you need?"
-
I'm liking those last few threads....might cost me an arm and a leg....but I"m liking that. This is an idea with legs....

It sounds to me like she is smart! :) I could be partial, but I could think of many more poor gun choices to choose out there. And having shot many Glocks, I'd trust my life to one (actually do 99% of the time). The G26 won't be quiet as accurate as some of the bigger Glocks, but it is smaller and it is a GLOCK. It would be a good quality gun to choose. ;)

NEVER! ::) ;D
Welcome back Hawk. Where ya been?
-
Would you rather hear that, or, " How many .45's do you need?"
My wife did ask me this. I told her at least five. She asked, "How many do you have?” I told her four.
Rationale is simple. One needs at least one or possibly two 45's in a revolver format. That leaves three to four in various pistol configuration ... such as one or two 1911's and the rest in the form of SIGs or Glocks. This is important because it means variety and variety in guns is like that of having a variety of shoes or handbags. You need to have variety to accessorize your outfits.
What was unbelievable was that SHE DIDN'T DOUBT OR QUESTION ME! What did happen was that this discussion turned into a debate on "waiting periods" for buying guns. Didn't see that one coming.

I've been around Hazcat. I've been super busy working. Due to the reliability and smooth shooting, my Glocks burn threw ammo like a hot knife through a thousand thanksgiving day turkey's... so it ain't cheap, hence the working all the time.

You guys are just afraid of independent minded women who just might out shoot you......To be honest so am I. :o
I personally like the idea of my wife outshooting me. I'm a pretty heavy sleeper and she can take care of goblins before waking me. We actually have 2 Glocks in the ready-to-go safe. M&P's and XD's are just Glock copies. I do want an XD Tactical, but if I want it, I'll have to convince my wife that it's what SHE needs.
-
One of many things that almost has me wanting a Glock ... they don't bugger up the slides or frame with big print or warnings.
I need another 9mm (because I only have one!) so maybe there is a Glock in my future.
-
Gee, don't Glocks only come in .40. (http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/fragend/confused-smiley-013.gif)

Yeah, I like the idea of a 40SW better than a 9mm (and I like a 10mm better than a 40SW) but ... this may sound silly, but I don't want to have too many different handgun calibers. Right now what I have in 45ACP, 44mag, 9mm, 22LR, 38SP and 32ACP (last two were inherited from my father) can handle defense, hunting, target and plinking well enough.
;D
-
Ron,
I was just razzing you (and Hawk ;D ).
I understand about the caliber thing. I try to keep my 'arsenal' to a reasonable diversity of calibers as well. (.22, 44mag, 45/454, 30 carbine, 308, 30-06, 38 special, 9mm)

Might have a way out....very pricey... Kimber Ultra CDP II 9mm ! ! !
I can only hope....Crimson Trace makes wooden grips for Kimber compacts!

You are a lucky man to have a woman with such fine taste in guns. ;D

If she asks"does this gun make my butt look big" be very tactful how you answer.
