Title: It's nice to find a home with people who understand you
Post by: tt11758 on June 16, 2008, 05:41:18 PM
I've only been a member of this forum for a short time, but it is REALLY nice to find a home with people who think like I do.  Which, actually, should probably frighten all of you tremendously.  LOL

Anyway, I live in a small town and most of my friends think I'm paranoid because I carry.  I'm not paranoid, I'm a realist.  There really is no such thing as Mayberry anymore.  This is NOT the same world in which we grew up.  It is a DANGEROUS world out there.  That's why I carry.  I pray to God that I never have to draw my weapon, much less fire it, but know that in today's world, that possibility exists.

Again, thank you for making me feel welcome, and for providing me with a place where people don't think I'm a freak because I carry.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

It really is a great forum.

My brother asked me the other day if I was "scared" because I carried (and he's a gun guy). I told him it was a lot like a fire extinguisher...I hope to never need it, but if I do I'll be damn glad I have it.  8)

With the state of the economy these days, armed robery is on the rise. There are hundreds of people in my area losing their jobs...people are getting desperate.  :'(

Hello tt11758, And welcome to a truly great forum, I see from your avatar your from Iowa, I hope you are not in the flood zone, probably had all the rain you can stand. Feel secure in your decision to carry, I heard on the news looting is almost non existent in Iowa.

Good people, and several more that chose, like you, to carry, can make all the difference, especially when the chips are down.

Take care and I hope your state gets better weather.

I may call you if I get a hurricane in my neighborhood. 8) Coastal NC.
Remind your brother, and whoever else, why.

(Many on this forum know this anonymous quote, in case you didn't see it on another thread here it is.)

I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.
I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.
I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in this world.
I don't carry a gun because I am evil. I carry a gun because I've lived long enough to see the evil in the world.
I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.
I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.
I don't carry a gun because my sex organs are too small. I carry a gun because I want to continue to use those sex organs for the purpose they were intended for a good long time to come.
I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.
I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because a real man knows how to take care and protect their property, themselves and the ones they love.
I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because unarmed and facing armed thugs I am inadequate.
I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.
I don't carry a gun to shoot to kill someone. I carry a gun and would shoot as necessary to stay alive. If the assailant dies as a result of a desire to harm me, it's no loss to society.

C'mon in...put your feet up.  We always enjoy like minded people to contribute.  Especially on that political stuff, helps us gain new perspective and learn how to think.  What's your favorite gun?

I don't know if its really more dangerous now than way back when. Remember, Ed Gein got busted in little ol' Planefield, Wisconsin back when I was born. Albert Fish admitted to molesting 400 kids. He killed many people but no one knows exactly how many. That was in the early 1900s.

There's more people now, so that's going to up the raw numbers but it also effects the per capita numbers.
By far the WORST problem, IMHO, is the 24/7 "news" channels.
Gloom and doom all day, every day. That, plus the "if it bleeds, it leads" mindset and we get bombarded with crap 'till we're buried in it.

That said, I never leave home without my Glock, Sig or 1911 or multiples thereof.
I tempt the Devil, not fate.   ;D

If I lived in Iowa, I would use all that corn to make my own liquor fuel for my bar car, and save lots of money for ammo. Lots of places to draw water from the Wabash before she gets muddy.
