I can usually get by with my Ruger SP101 with a 3 incher, but I recently decided that I need a smaller lighter pocket gun. Any thoughts on steel verses alloys? Charter Arms?

I'll have to make do with my S&W Sigma 380. Does that count as a "snubby?"

I shot a Charter undercover lite .38.  After the second cylander (slow fire) you had to pound on the extractor pin to get the empties out.  The metal (don't remember what it was) would expand that much.  This was a new gun about 6 months ago.

M25,

You're right, that Colt is ugly. ;D  The others are nice.  Can you reload that nine with moon clips like Jerry?  ::)

BTW what is that clip in your avatar?

Thanks Hazcat, I was close to making the move, but I'll stick out for a Smith.

Yeah, I had that feeling too.  I bought this one new in 74 at Interarms in VA.

Haz, look at the last picture, it shows the moon clip. I carry 4 extra in my pants for a total of 25 rounds.

Got the avatar from the gettin place, it's too small to really make out the actor to back track the movie. I just thought at first glance it was fun.

I've heard good things about the bulldog in 44 Special. As far as the Sigma goes we are talkin wheel guns here.

I have read somewhere that the metal in the 44 Bulldog is different than in the smaller guns, and that makes it a more stable piece. MB probably knows that stuff for sure.

I have no experience with Charter Arms, but as far as S&W goes, I have owned both a 640(stainless) and a 642(aluminum frame) airweight.  Their is a small difference in felt recoil, imo, but the decreased weight of the 642 makes it more than worth it.  This isn't really an issue if you carry on the belt, but for pocket carry, those few ounces make all the difference in the world.

Our S&W M-10 (yes a medium frame 38 Spl) has a 2 1/2 barrel.  Looks funny.  I'll post pics later.

COOL!  I'm not worth a damn speed reloading.  Just recently got the HKS reloader for my RedHawk.  In any case shooting with Jerry would be fun but intimidating!

I'd be willing to try shooting with Jerry...as long as I don't have to buy the ammo.

OOOOOOO...Awwwwwwww!!!! What you think is ugly, I think is awesome. This is my favorite so far. Very nice. How is the recoil with the comp? Does it push the gun down when you shoot it or is there no difference just less recoil?

The Smith M-10 with thw short barrel and the Israeli 1911 Commander I usually shoot.  The M-10 really needds to be sent back to Smith to be rebuilt and refinished.

To KSAIL, I had not shot it yet when you posted, so you gave the excellent excuse to go do so. I've put about 80 rounds through it so far, and with defensive ammo ( +p ) it does keep the muzzle down, it also shoots better than I expected, although too far to the left to do head shots. I'll work on that part. Even in the daytime, if your in the shade, you can see the fireball. It still does recoil, as it is very light, but it is not a target gun.  All in all a keeper. An honest carry gun. The man who owned it before me ( God rest his sole ) obviously carried it often. I named it after him, Hughie.

I need to take pics of my new to me, model 19, round butt 2 1/2" revolver, I shot it alongside the Agent, but with full power .357's, the recoil is respectable, worse than the Agent by far, but the accuracy is excellent. 50 rounds of full power did leave a little reminder the next day in the palm of my hand, but I like it.!!!

My snubbies... okay, the 296 is 2.5" - close enough? They do look like siblings!
