Just introduced, sent to the Judiciary Committee.

Wanna get sick? Take a look at the mopes on this Committee - hard core loonies and fascists like:

Luis Gutierrez - Dickie Daley's lap dog out of Chicago

Sheila Jackson Lee, who tried to blow past a security guard at the US Capitol without her little signal pin and then raised a fuss when he stopped her, struck him as I recall

Maxine Waters who got summarily tossed out of her GA district, only to get elected out of the krazies in CA

and one of the top B-list gun grabbers of all, John Conyers.

If I read the constitution right the ban would actually be unconstitutional and should be shut down(should be?)

Let the record show that Congressman Steve King (R-IA), my congressional representative just received an e-mail from me.

I have just written Democrat Nancy Boyda. Our rep. was opposed to our CCW and though it is not noted on her sit, I am pretty sure her stance on the proposed bill. I can only say I did my duty to voice myself and like minds.

Bad guys have and will continue to have semi-auto's with large capcity magazines, cops have them, the government has them....  so why can't the average law abidding citizen have them?   >:(     It's like our politicians are say, "lets restrict the people that don't need to be restricted to start with." I would love to go on TV and/or radio and have like an hour to explain some "common sense" to the America people.  I hope "mainstream America", is listening to this kind of "errosion of our freedoms."

I will do my part and write my congressman, but given that this is an election year my bet is that this thing won't get touched this year.  Unfortunately the posturing in anticpation of the new administration has only just begun. >:(

If they think gun control of any kind works all they have to do is ask the people in Australia and find out that crime is up by 300 precent.

Seems to me that the Supreme Court agreed with you Hawkfish, but if 6257 became law, it may take a few lower level Federal court challenges in a couple of different Federal districts to settle this "Assault Weapon Ban" issue. IMHO, if there was any real momentum to have such a ban, Congress would not have let the last one expire. Elected officials do read their mail and they do want to stay in office.

Mack,

You are right.  The ideological part of me wants to believe that our elected officials are there to do the peoples business, but I'm afraid most are more concerned with feathering their own nests.  The temptations from the "special interest groups"  are too lucrative for many of our so-called leaders to pass up.  Whatever happened to high standards and integrity?

By the way, my definition of "special interest groups" does not include those that are in place to be the watchdogs of our constitutional rights, specifically the NRA and others like them.  It burns my butt that the NRA gets lumped in with those groups who are looking to either find ways around the laws for their groups (getting around the IRS is an obvious exception ;)) or to carve out some ridiculous set of "superior rights" for some disenfranchised minority.

Sorry for the rant.  Happy Independence Day!!!

Being in the Coast Guard and not living in my home state of Florida, I sent a letter to my Florida rep, and the Oregon rep for which I now reside. ;D
