I found a quote on the net just today:
"25 States allow anyone to buy a gun, strap it on, and walk down the street with no permit of any kind: some say it's crazy. However, 4 out of 5 US murders are committed in the other half of the country: so who is crazy?" -- Andrew Ford
Can anyone tell me who this Andrew Ford was or in what timeframe this quote was given? And if it still applies?
Many thanks

Have been searching for Andrew Ford. Don't know who he is yet...but found these additional quotes
Other quotes by Andrew Ford:
If you've got a gun law that criminals will obey, why not just turn it into a murder law that criminals will obey then we won't have to worry about the gun part." -- Andrew Ford
"Without either the First or Second Amendment, we would have no liberty; the first allows us to find out what's happening, the second allows us to do something about it! The second will be taken away first, followed by the first and then the rest of our freedoms." -- Andrew Ford
"The price of liberty is, always has been, and always will be blood: the person who is not willing to die for his liberty has already lost it to the first scoundrel who is willing to risk dying to violate that person's liberty. Are you free?" -- Andrew Ford

I believe (and could be wrong... after three large margaritas today :P) that there was a study done not too long ago that showed the crime rates of right to carry vs. non carry states. This is what that comment is from. VERY interesting study I will try digging for it ... was it on this forum?
BTW ... great margarita recipe that I will post if anyone is interested. ;D

I am Andrew Ford. I did that study circa 1990. Somehow I doubt it is anything close to valid now. It was based the 1990/1991 FBI UCRs and a gun carry summary from rec.guns.
Over the years, I've lost the original files - if anyone does find it, please post a link.....
