Obama has a new campaign logo, but is Obama's "Great Seal" illegal?

18 USC Sec. 713 ...
(a) Whoever knowingly displays any printed or other likeness of the great seal of the United States, or of the seals of the President or the Vice President of the United States, or the seal of the United States Senate, or the seal of the United States House of Representatives, or the seal of the United States Congress, or any facsimile thereof, in, or in connection with, any advertisement, poster, circular, book, pamphlet, or other publication, public meeting, play, motion picture, telecast, or other production, or on any building, monument, or stationery, for the purpose of conveying, or in a manner reasonably calculated to convey, a false impression of sponsorship or approval by the Government of the United States or by any department, agency, or instrumentality thereof, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.
(b) Whoever, except as authorized under regulations promulgated by the President and published in the Federal Register, knowingly manufactures, reproduces, sells, or purchases for resale, either separately or appended to any article manufactured or sold, any likeness of the seals of the President or Vice President, or any substantial part thereof, except for manufacture or sale of the article for the official use of the Government of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.
Bummer. The Great Seal of Barack would have made for a, like, totally fierce and rad lapel pin.

Nope, no retraction. Just a condescending speech on how we should realize it's just a campaign ad and any way he had no knowledge of it. ;)

if you change a something in a pic( as in logo, work of art etc) in 8 ways, you can call it your own. looks to me he changed it more then 8 ways.

Hope everyone who needs it has their nitro handy.......................Ready ? This time I AGREE with TAB. (Difibrilators all set ?) I THINK that the graphic artists and lawyers in his PR dept have changed the image enough to not get him locked up. ( BUMMER :( )

I agree. Its just funny how pathetic an attempt this is to make him look presidential. I didn't know the Obama campaign let college interns sit in on their brainstorming sessions.

the other side of that is look how pathic it makes those look to discredit him. If your trying to get the college vote I can think of no better group to talk to then college students.

Play Dumb ? Who said they were playing ? One thing I notice, You can not do ANYTHING important in America today unless you have a colored ribbon and a logo. The second coming has been delayed because they can't decide which color the ribbons should be ?????
