Title: Your chance to zing the ACLU
Post by: 1776 Rebel on July 07, 2008, 07:30:52 PM
The ACLU (which I just know we all love and care for) has decided that the Heller decision was all wrong. They posted their postion and are getting Zumbo'd in comments. Just before this post there were over 750 comments with the majority blasting their stance. First take a look at the comments. Some are a hoot.  Second feel free to post your response !!!

Seems like most of the comments are invalidating the stance for which the ACLU prides itself on.

Selective Amendments are the agenda of many of their ilk, it reads as though they lost some influence.

 ACLU Stated Goals

The ACLU's founder, Roger Baldwin, stated: "We are for SOCIALISM, disarmament, and ultimately for abolishing the state itself... We seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and the SOLE CONTROL of those who produce wealth. COMMUNISM is the goal." (Source: Trial and Error, by Geo. Grant)

Depending on the election outcome, they may be elevated to Cabinet level.

I started looking through the comments and couldn't come up with anything new other than some bad language that was tastefully left out of the previous comments.

I have always wondered why the American Civil Liberties Union defended only the rights of criminals and shitheels. Seeing their comments on the second amendment and the SCOTUS ruling make it a little clearer. They're not just a bunch of liberal lawyers, they're a bunch of assholes who just happen to be liberal lawyers. Big difference, I guess.

Hey are we seeing some sort of schism with the ACLU? The following is from the Nevada ACLU website....

ACLU of Nevada Supports Individual’s Right to Bear Arms

In light of the United States Supreme Court's decision concerning the D.C. handgun ban (District of Columbia v. Heller) the ACLU of Nevada considers it important to clearly state its position regarding the right to bear arms. The Nevada ACLU respects the individual's right to bear arms subject to constitutionally permissible regulations. The ACLU of Nevada will defend this right as it defends other constitutional rights.  This policy was formulated by our afilliate Board in light of both the U.S. Constitution and the clearly-stated individual right to bear arms as set out in the Nevada Constitution's Declaration of Rights.

That seems to be the status of the ACLU- individual chapters that, evidently, can vary their stance as they please. So really there might be an ACLU chapter that would actually go to bat for a gun owner under certain circumstances.
