Howdy!
We upgraded the forum software yesterday and after doing that, I decided to install a chat room that we can try out. To access the chat room and to chat live with fellow forum members, you have to be logged in. Your forum user name and password is the same for the chat room.
On the forum menu (blue buttons above), you can now see a chat button second from left. By clicking the button, a new browser window opens and the chat room will appear in a few seconds.
This section is still in Beta, but feel free to play around with it. I will open up a new sticky thread called Chat Sessions where the 3 M's or you as a member can invite members for a live chat on a specific time and date.
We will add a help section later. Enjoy!

We have some issues with the chat room when using Internet Explorer (as usual >:( ). Added to the bug list.
It works just fine using Firefox, which btw is the best Internet browser you can use.

Just got out of there. Those guys are crazy.. but fun.
This will be a great thing to have to hang out in .. People coming and going all the time.
Just remember.. when you come in or leave.. don't leave the door open .. The flies get in.. LOL LOL

Marshall, I wa just in the chat room. Works great! One minor glitch I have no idea how to adjust. My dialogue box or whatever you call it only shows the first line of my message...how do I expand it, or can I?
Thanks,
Richard

Ellis4538,
It is a bug in the software, but it only applies to IE users. Works fine in Firefox. It is on my to do list.
-
Thanks. I have been told that IE is a pain and I have found that to be the case but don't have the expertise to upgrade (better browsers are available free I'm told!).

My kids use, and prefer, firefox at home. I am forced by our IT Nazis to use IE at work, and am not allowed to install other software on my work machine. Downside is...its also the laptop I use at home. :(

AWESOME!
:) :) :) :) :)

That is really too cool, now I'm really never going to get any work done!

Click on the link in Marshal's 2nd post then just follow the instructions. That's what I did anyway. My only question now is should I remove/delete IE ?
-
You don't need to delete IE, in fact I have both IE and Firefox on my laptop and can run them both at the same time. I predominantly use Firefox but if I need IE I have it.

Thanks, my mail is on IE ;D

At some point, one of the browsers will ask if you want to use <browser> as your default. If it's Firefox asking, say yes, if IE, say no, and that should eliminate 99% of the problems.

We now have 2 versions of the chat section. If you go to the chat room and have problems when using IE, click on the option link above the chat area for a more IE friendly chatroom.
We have also added an MP3 player so you can listen to the latest of Down Range Radio and Cowboy Action Radio. We will add some music later.

Thanks BAC, that works for me but I screwed uploading Firefox - got ahead of things I guess.
Richard
Can't upload anyway. My browser is blocking upload!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Marshal,
Another gripe (sorry). I am listening to Cowboy in the chat room (pretty cool!) and I tried to move the playbar back a little to re hear a segment but I couldn't. Can that be fixed?
-
OK ... I'm old, fat and stupid :'(
Decided to play in the chatroom this afternoon, and I can't figure out how to chat :'(
-
There is a chat/dialogue line down at the very bottom. Mine is partially hidden-yours might be also. If you click to the right of the icons you can drag the whole dialog box up so the whole thing can be seen.
LOL

M58,
If your browser is IE, when you enter read the yellow box at the top. Then use the 'option' version.

I like the option of the radio/music. Could you please keep it an option? Some of us with satellite connections have terrible restriction on bandwith and get slowed to a 33k modem speed or less if we exceed our limit.
Also..it's most cool. Especially when you or Michael show up.
Have A Great Day,
Ken

I haven't run into MB in there yet as I can only chat on weekends when I don't have to work. But I've been really enjoying chatting with the folks I have met up with in there. ;D

I really like that feature, being able to listen MB talking DR while also being able to chat. GREAT Job :D

It's a shame more people don't show up here and chat. :(
Perhaps It's just going to take more time.
