Saw it on the morning news, the price to get an American company to become Europe v.2? $52Billion.

You forgot to include the sale of the Chrysler Building in NYC to Abu Dhabi.
We went through this same in the seventies and eighties as the dumbocrats and especially Carter's economics shredded us. This one looks ugly though, has a real potential to be a replay of the late 1920's and 1930's - world-wide.
So much of our money is going to Europe with the devaluation of the dollar, the A-rabs for the oil at inflated prices, and China for everything else, that no one should ever expect us to be immune from their demands - they just about owns us at the moment.

Trying to remember the economist,, but he was warning of the "end times" for America, when the Chinese, not just Europeans, start making bids to buy American food companies, big ones like Libby, Jolly Green Giant big ones, and the huge US farm corporations. Than the puppetmaster will have a large hand on our food supply and of course pricing...

Never drank any Bud products, nor Becks - they go hand in hand in the taste department for me.. But dayum - shouldn't American made still mean made in America?

I agree that it is 'unsettling' at best that this American Icon should be sold to foreign interests. But we can only blame the current owners (raised on 'global theory) for that.

You've seen the Jr., Jr., Jr. Busch on the tv commercials..."My great grandaddy ....blah blah blah" It's a case of a bunch of knuckleheads who were handed a financial empire and so now they're probably "tired" of dealing with all that messy business stuff and would rather just ski or something.
Screw them and Bud- when is the last time Anhauser did anything for you?. American Icon..sure. Just like JP Morgan or the Rockefellers. How many other breweries or little people did they beat to death to become the icon they are. It's just a giant, ruthless business that got sold off to a gianter, MORE ruthless business with more money. It's just not a big thing to me.
Now if you were talking about Old Grandad or Maker's Mark. I'll quit drinkin it when the Chinese take it over.

It's a shame for sure. I manage a storage warehouse for Bud.
I work with the brewing dept. and they are a great bunch, they didn't think the sale would happen.

Another mortgage bailout this past week. More money to be printed...we got the initial elation in the market...let's see what happens in the next couple of weeks? Does anyone want to predict a $1.60 barrier to buy a Euro is crossed soon?

Currently 1 Euro is 1.58-1.59 US Dollar and for the moment holding relatively steady just a shy under 1.60 US Dollar

Weak dollar & it seems to be fashionable to sell your beer company. Miller/Coors if I recall are combined in some sort of joint venture (?) but I believe (and could be wrong) they are owned by a South African company.
As to bourbon .... got to pour Booker. Hmmm. Should be marketed as a breakfast drink. ;)
