ITS FUN!!! tried my ruger today at a 100yds . i didn;t get 3 shots that you could put a dime over but it did better than some long barrell 22s. and the guys noticed it with a (whats that) it was fun , didn;t cost a $1.00 a shot and i can not wait to go back. would like to know the strongest 22lr i can find without bying so many different kind!! then i can hope this baby will like them. i know some of you guys know more about 22s than i do. thanks for any sug.... xd40lover.

Actually I have read many times that a standard velocity .22 is more accurate than the hot ones.

I agree with Haz. When I was on an ROTC rifle team, we were issued .22lr, match grade, standard velocity, lead round nosed rounds. Of course, we had to use them to repel indian attacks as well. George Armstrong Custer was the team coach I recall.

CCI Stingers are some hot 22 ammo. Like the other guys said hotter is not always more accurate but if speed is what your after the stingers are pretty hot for .22's.

Looking at my 10/22 manual pg 15, there is a warning regarding "stinger ammo" and the longer case loaded to US ind. specs. which can stick in tighter chambers including the 10/22, which can result in a ruptured case. and the big pink section; "Do not use Stinger ammo in 10/22 rifles. Just quoting from the manual....
My 10/22 with the 30 round banana clip had FTE issues with stingers. Shoots everything else fine. I've tried them.
Just thought I'd pass this along, maybe yours does better. Accuracy was never an issue, as it;s a great rifle regardless.

The 10/22 is one of the finest 22's made. Enjoy it! Many here have, and continue to do so. especially with ammo prices what they are, the 22 can still be a literal blast.

Kind of a side question on the Charger, how well does it shoot off hand?

Due to its weight and length, the Charger is pretty steady even from a standing position. However, this weight also makes that style of shooting uncomfortable. It's pretty much a bench gun, but man it's waaay too cool and tons of fun to shoot.

i agree with swoops,its okay either way but with the leggs on a bench, its great fun ideal gun for the wife and grandsonS to learn and enjoy. to h/cat outdoors range only!!! thanks for the feed back on the ammo. xd40....

Standard velocity rounds that do not break the sound barrier have advantages over hi velocity rounds and ultra-velocity rounds like Stingers, Yellow Jackets, etc., as they do not suffer the buffetting experienced in the transonic zone when they cross from supersonic to subsonic speeds.
They also make supression a sweet thing.
