Village of Morton Grove to Repeal Gun Ban
Friday, July 18, 2008
Fairfax, VA. – Today the Village of Morton Grove moved to avoid imminent legal action by the National Rifle Association by amending its Village Code to remove the current handgun ban and incorporate sections of the Illinois Criminal Code.
“We are pleased that the Village of Morton Grove took steps to repeal its draconian gun ban,” said Chris W. Cox, NRA’s chief lobbyist. “Finally Village residents can exercise the same constitutionally-protected rights that the rest of the country enjoys.”
Final action by the Village of Morton Grove Board on this ordinance is expected at the July 28 meeting. The NRA is committed to restoring the individual Second Amendment rights to all law-abiding Americans, as recently recognized by the United States Supreme Court in Heller v. District of Columbia.
Cox concluded, “On behalf of the tens of thousands of NRA members and gun owners in Illinois, I’d like to thank all of those who dedicated their time to seeing this illegal gun ban repealed.”

Its good to see some progress, I was beginning to think it wasn't working, especially with those freaks that fester in the deepest pits of Judecca (Washington DC) trying to screw people yet again.
-
It is progress of a sorts. The whole reason they rescinded their gun ban - the first in the country mind you, does not reflect a change of heart but the fact that Morton Grove, like Evanston and most of the other liberal bastions on the north side of Chicago, are damn near bankrupt from all of their socialist programs. They have no money for court fights. That is why they are repealing this measure.
I know, I lived in Evanston, 2 towns over from MG, with its own gun ban too. Evanston may actually be financially more solvent since they screwed the town by allowing high-rise condos. What are high-rise condos? Real-estate taxes on the tree. The state had passed a tax cap which prevented the cities and counties from boosting taxes to matched desired expenses. None of these towns have any room to expand, so they are locked into the tax base as is.
Unless of course, in a town of single family homes and light offices, where the tallest building was 7 stories, you suddenly start allowing massive (like 10-12 at once), building of high-rise (20+ stories) condos. Each condo is taxed, the building and grounds are taxed, the water and sewer to each is taxed, etc. etc.
All of this occured just as I was moving out of that fascist little town.
But I'm sure the moeny is already spent, so they may not be interested in a fight either. We'll see.

One coffee can full of change at a time,... ;) IMHO.... I'm tryin' ...and I hope more do by Nov.
"As to liberty, the heroes who signed the great document pledged themselves to buy liberty with their lives. Liberty is never unalienable; it must be redeemed regularly with the blood of patriots or it always vanishes. Of all the so-called natural human rights that have ever been invented, liberty is least likely to be cheap and is never free of cost."

I would love to hear the judge ask Barton if he is really stupid?

Part of the decision said something about upholding bans on possesion of guns by Felons. They don't have a leg to stand on.
-
I think you're right about no legs.
Guess this is one of the reasons why my father didn't want me to be a lawyer.
-
It's lawyers making money and sincerely pretending to care. Results are irrelevant to the furtherance if the institution.

Mac is right, We do not have "justice" in America, we have a "Legal system" that is mostly concerned with making lawyers rich. :(
-
Ron, from your writings, I'll bet in the end he wasn't disappointed with your decision.

Thanks for the kind words Mac.
