Title: The funny thing is...............

I used to not even like black guns, until I bought that first stinking AR!  They truly are addicting!

I can't find the emotion that is drooling, so you will just have to imagine my keyboard getting all slobery  :P

Nice Collection ... I have got to start paging through that new Midway catalog that came last week!

Now you just need to add a Glock or two to the mix.

Is that a Ruger 10/22 at the bottom all dressed up in black? Playing with the big boys?

I almost fell off the chair laughing when the latest Sportsman's Warehouse catalog came. Inside - a bolt-on plastic shell for the Ruger 10/22 that made it look like a STG-43. Talk about delusions of grandeur!!   ;D

Don't get me wrong, I like 10/22's, just got one form a local pawnshop - great rifle, good scope, shot groups at 100 yards. All in normal wood - where it will stay. I have an AR, don't need to throw a folding stock on the little guy, he's quite happy with who he is.

Yes, it is, and let me tell ya, I have had more fun with this gun and shot it more since I swapped stocks than I would have ever believed.  It is much lighter now, and with the red dot and 30 round mags you can put a lot of lead downrange in a hurry.  Much cheaper to shoot than anything else too.

Darn it Gunman! Now I just might have to buy another at Camp Perry this week. At least that's my plan.

The AR 15 I used on just one patrol in Vietnam before trashing it was a POS. It failed at a very bad time! Fortunately for me my light weapons sergeant was right next to me -- as usual -- and provided the needed covering fire with his M2 carbine while I sorted out the blankety blank AR. This was in 1965. I went back to the M2 after that and never looked back. The M2 was a good weapon for an officer.

Then -- I bought a Rock River at Camp Perry last year. That has changed my mind. But being retired I no longer go in harms way carrying a rifle. So that is not a comment on the AR as a battle rifle. I will leave that argument to you younger guys.

Someday I will get an AR. Really want one in 6.8 Rem SPC. Until then my "black rifle" is a Springfield Armory M1A Scout w/an Aimpoint CompML2 2x.  The "black handgun" is my SIG P220.

Sorry for the poor picture quality ... I'm away from home and this was from my cell phone.

(And Jay ... the Tele is my Fender Deluxe Ash.  A real tone monster that weighs in at 10 pounds!)

I got bit by the black bug a year or so ago. Took the rifle SAFS at Camp Perry last year. Bought a stripped lower and built the lower myself and bought a Match upper from RRA. Then a friend convienced me to also build a house defense version. Well I have the lower but still working on a light clean upper. Then the same "friend" convienced me to stock up on Serial Numbers before Obama gets in office so I  bought another stripped lower at a gun show...I would still like to have a couple more of the stripped lowers before next January but can't afford them right now. That by the way doesn't count all the tools and gadgets one feels compelled to acquire. I think Brownells and Midway owe me a great big thankyou for last year !

Nice guns. That looks a lot like my two ARs, shotgun, and 10/22. I have the same folding stock too. I have to use a RAMLINE RUGER 10/22 AUTOLOADER to load all the 30 and 50 round mags I have. That's definately the most fun one to shoot. Ammo for anything other than .22s is getting too expensive.

I've been playing with My AR15 a lot lately. I'd like to get a 6.8 SPC Upper for it when I can afford to.  8)

I'd rather get a .450 Bushmaster or .458 SOCOM, but 6.8mm is a good upgrade of the ol' poodle shooters.

So would I but then I wouldn't be able to afford the ammo.

I'd like to get a 20 in. 6.8 upper for my Bushmaster, but no one seems to make any but 16 in. Has anyone seen any ads that show the size barrel I'm looking for?

I haven't seen any, but the 6.5 Grendel can be had with a 19-1/2 inch barrel. It's uses better bullets, and it's twice as accurate as the 6.8mm at 400 yards. If you never shoot beyond 250 yards the 6.8 is good enough. I'm sticking with 5.56mm.

EDIT: It looks like DPMS has 20" 6.8mms.
