On May 7th New Hampshire Representative Timothy Horrigan (D-Durham) stood on the state house floor and argued against legislation forbidding the use of EBT cards for guns, saying such a ban "is a blatant violation of the Second Amendment."
The legislation--SB203--says:
Any person who receives public assistance is prohibited from using an EBT card or cash obtained with an EBT card to gamble or to purchase tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, lottery tickets, firearms, or adult entertainment.
SB203 also prohibits using "an EBT card or cash obtained with an EBT card" for "Tattoos and Body Piercing."
n voicing opposition to the firearms ban, Horrigan said:
The firearms ban is a blatant violation of the Second Amendment. Cash benefit recipients presumably have the same rights as the rest of us to purchase guns for hunting, sports shooting, or even self-defense. Obviously they don't have much money to spend on that, but they do have the right under the Second Amendment to do so.

Nope! Welfare is for basic sustenance, period!
You can survive without a firearm. You cannot survive without food and shelter...
-
Hi;
have to agree with Timothy, If you have enough to buy a weapon while on welfare - then you dont need that much welfare or any at all.
-
That may be your opinion, but judging by all the "Smartphones", gaming systems, and wide screen TV's that ain't how the system works.
Until it does work, I think it's better if they CAN buy guns and ammo.
Funny part is, you can't buy shit paper with an EBT card, but you'll soon be able to buy the reason some scumbag needs it. ;D

Couple of ways to look at this.
First, just because tattoos are not mentioned in the bill of rights does not mean they are not protected by it as strongly as firearms are by the 2nd Amendment....as all the other forbidden items.
So, if firearms are allowed to be purchased, so should all the other forbidden stuff.
On the other hand....
We are giving you this money and will tell you what you can't use it for. If you don't like that, you don't have to accept it...we won't force you to.
Three ways, actually.
Since no one should be getting government handouts, the question becomes:
Should a charitable organization be able to prohibit what money the give to the needy as charity can be spent on?
-
Hi;
A Charitable entitiy that wishes to waste it's money can do whatever it wants to.....Taxpayer money is different in my mind.....

The problem is that we have made it way to comfortable to be poor in this country and it's made people dependent upon the system. The fact that this is even a conversation issue is the problem. If we need to make laws on what people spend their money then they're probably getting too much. Yeah I know I sound heartless but welfare is supposed to keep someone with hard luck going for a bit while they get back on their feet.

Yes, OUR money...
I'm working, pay for taxes, rent, car payments, insurance, medications, utilities, clothing, fuel, give to charity, help out family and friends if I can...
If the folks taking our/my money get to buy ammo and firearms then they can buy me some f*#king guns and ammo cuz I'm pretty f*#king poor making a decent living in this f*#cking country!

If you don't like it you can always get the bums out of office by whatever means are needed.
Unless of course Americans are not capable of doing what even barefoot Egyptians and Libyans have done .
