Chicago is fighting tooth and nail to keep its 1982 handgun freeze, in part to protect first-responders, even as suburbs such as Wilmette and Morton Grove are throwing in the towel, Mayor Daley said today.
In fact, Daley is talking about drafting yet another ordinance to spell out the responsibilities and liabilities of homeowners in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court's landmark decision to overturn Washington D.C.'s handgun ban.
If the nation's highest court says it's OK to keep guns in your home for self-defense, what's to prevent those guns from being used against police officers and firefighters who respond to a domestic quarrel or other emergency, the mayor said.
"What does a policeman do when there's a domestic battery [call] and they're both armed? Do they enter the home or apartment or do they wait outside? ... How 'bout the neighbors? How 'bout the postman -- all the other issues that go with people coming into your home or close to your home? ... Whose responsibility is it when your son takes the gun outside and police come by?" Daley told reporters at a senior citizen development in Roseland.
"You have to look at a new ordinance in order to protect firemen and policemen going to the scenes of people who have armed themselves in their home. ... We serve and protect. We're not supposed to lose our lives ... Morton Grove can do anything they want. What I'm saying is you have to look at the first- responders and how it's gonna jeopardize their lives."
The mayor's laundry list of questions does not stop at the safety of first-responders. He wants to know just how far the Supreme Court is prepared to go to protect the 2nd Amendment.
"It's just not allowing people to arm themselves. How many guns do you have -- 50, 60? Can they have a .357 Magnum? Can they have ammunition that will go through a wall? What is the liability of the owners? ... Do you have to have insurance if you have a gun? How much ammunition can you have if there's a fire? If a fireman is going to your home and you have 40 weapons and 1,000 rounds, do we have a responsibility to notify all the neighbors?" Daley said.
"There's a lot of questions to be asked. I don't look at this lightly [and say], 'Oh, because the Supreme Court [overturned Washington's handgun ban], we're just gonna dismiss it and, all the sudden, people can arm themselves.'"

This thug, this unincarcerated criminal (committed crimes as State's Attorney but never charged), this asshole mayor is a good example of what awaits us if we let our guard down even for a second. He seriously needs to be taught a lesson.
Support the NRA and the 2A Foundation, and tighten the screws on this mope.
And notice that it is never the banishment of weapons that matter, no sir, it is all about protecting the children neighbors first responders. Like every good liberal, they will lie, ignore facts, and distort reality to ensure that they continue to dominate us peons.
This man is despicable, and if the Feds had any cajones they could easily run him up on charges. The city of chicago is and has been one of the most corrupt in US history - sophisticated, yes, his daddy was no fool and successfully dodged every effort to take him down. But as they said in Godfather 2 - difficult, yes, but not impossible.

If you belong to DRTV. You better belong to the NRA. They are the only ones willing to take a punch for us.

Is Daley in a fishbowl? I guess Daley thinks that police in Chicago are cut off from the rest of the world, because other communities have dealt with every one of his questions. I think he watches too much TV.
I'm the NRA… and I vote!

"Hey, I've got problems with the NRA. They oughta' be doing what I want them to do....not what they want. Because I am so much smarter than everyone else....I know what, I'll show them and everyone else how mad I am I'll just sit here and drink another beer, eat another pretzel and watch some football. I'm not giving them any money."
Does the above statement sound like anyone you know....maybe resemble you? Get the fishhooks out of your pocket and send them a few dollars. The NRA is the most effective gun rights organization on the planet...they are the gun owners lightning rod. I won't be bashful...if you shoot you owe. If you can give to the the United Way because your employer is leaning on you and you caved in then at least have the balls to send the NRA a few bucks.
Chicago and D.C. are good examples...the liberals do not respect law and you are not protected unless someone goes to bat and shoves it back up their butt. If you are hiding behind "the law" protecting you or some Supreme Court decision "setting you free" then get your head out of your behind. Laws and decisons are only good if the people in power say they are....why do you drop back into the idillic perfect world when it is something you don't want to do?
Get over yourself. The fight is on.

And the gloves have to come off. This is old school bareknuckles brawl and the BG (them) must be vanquished.
With the press already sanctifying b-ho and himself conducting his "victory" tour already, things could get very bad for a lot of people - anyone with any money, anyone with guns, anyone with a sense of religion, anyone with a desire to achieve - we are all at risk as is the future of this country.
I may be a pessimist, but at least I am (a little) prepared. How about you?

Is Daley's middle name "Noggin"? If so, I think his name fits ... Richard Noggin Daley.
Yeah, more than one reason why he is called Dick.
Wait ... need more coffee to think of a few more.

Goes right along with the NRA having file suit with Wash. DC , for their interpretation and registration, red-tape, bureaucratic, BS process there.
These anti-gun politicians are going to fight to the last, (spending taxpayers money, and anti gun contrib's), all the way BACK to the Supreme Court to "clarify" what was already clarified!! >:( What a total schmuck, Oh, that B-Ho's state too isn't it? That's just great, if the Barack gets elected, he'll probably appoint Daley to head the ATF or the new "National Registration of Firearms Dept."
It can even get scarier than that...Sad.
As Robert D. Raiford says, " I wish somebody would just step on him"...

I hear a lot of people complain about the NRA. It's pretty hard to keep 4.3 million members happy all of the time. I think they have a pretty tough job having to combat the idiots and keep public perception as balanced as possible. It seems like they are definitely striking hard right now. Perhaps the timing is just right, but maybe it shows what an increased threat our rights are coming under in the next election.

More like the "National Confiscation of Firearms Department".
