Candidate's trademark 'O' replaces stars and stripes

The U.S. flag no longer appears on the tail of the plane that will be used by presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama (Courtesy Chicago Sun-Times)

As part of a month-long aircraft makeover, a painted American flag was removed from the tail of Sen. Barack Obama's
official campaign airplane and was replaced with the presidential candidate's trademark "O" symbol.

The refurbished 757 was unveiled to members of the news media today, 41 of whom boa rded the craft and took off to meet Obama in Amman, Jordan, where the presidential candidate will stop as part of a Middle Eastern and European tour.

Obama traveled to the Mideast earlier this week on board a separate airplane.

Fox News blogger Bonny Kapp, traveling on Obama's new airplane, reported:

"The North American jet that flew Obama and his traveling crew around for much of the primary season was refurbished with new seats and power for each passenger a must on the campaign trail. And the plane that once had an American flag on its tail now sports the Obama 'O.' "
Obama's 'O' symbol is red, white and blue.

Most official U.S. government aircraft, including Air Force One, have U.S. flags on their tails.

Both Fox News and the Chicago Sun-Times posted pictures of the Obama campaign's redressed airplane, which does not have an American flag or any other U.S. national symbols on the section that sports the Airplane door from which Obama and his team will enter and exit.

The airplane boasts Obama's anthem, "Change We Can Believe In" and the candidate’s website address.

The aircraft also has required identification numbers and a U.S. flag to identify the nationality of the aircraft.

According to Chicago Sun-Times reporter Lynn Sweet, the refurbished Obama aircraft features a "first class" section for the candidate and his closest advisors; several "business class" seats, and a large coach section, usually meant for the traveling press corps.

Sweet reported fruit and cheese platters greeted reporters on board the flight. Dinner options offered were beef medallions, baked tilapia or eggplant parmesan.

She wrote the Obama campaign provided overnight kits for the flight that include toothbrush, mouthwash, socks, Neutrogena body lotion and lip moisturizer, Scope mouthwash, ear plugs and a blindfold for sleeping.

Post by: jaybet on July 31, 2008, 06:05:25 AM: I saw a news report about this and they were busting his chops because when they remodeled his plane the flag on the tail was "too Presidential"- that he was being arrogant, so they changed the flag to the O-hole symbol.
Doesn't matter what the reasons are or anything else, the media will ignore anything negative about him.

They freely admit that they are star-struck. It's like a Stones tour and the press is the ugly chick that snuck through security and claims to have given Mick Jagger a hummer.

I have started to notice that the Secret Service agents most close to BHO are ONLY black. At first I thought, oh thats cool, we have a multi racial SS corp. Now its starting to get to me. Yep.
He doesn't have the long term experience to make many of the decisions he'll need to make. Thus, he'll have to rely on the puppetmasters that he will appoint as cabinet members and advisors. All of whom, like him, will have their own seperate agendas. He could end up like the old deer in the headlights.

Just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.

The stylized flag on the fuselage and tail are copy-righted logos of North American Airlines, who owns the aircraft. Those were removed because of that copyright. On the left side of the aircraft, and mayabe the right, just to the left of the aircraft’s ID number, is an American flag, similar in size to most flags seen on most commercial aircraft. On many of the photos I’ve seen in the media, the area of the flag is either cropped out, or obscured by the wing or other object.

The fact that the media is running with this story makes me suspicious. Perhaps a red herring, to keep attention focused away from the real issues.

Please, don't misunderstand. I believe that Obama is a socialist who if given the power, will accelerate the decline of our nation and society. He is a dangerous, anti-American who will do everything in his power to bring about his idea of change.

Even if joking, which I'm sure you are, you could see some jail time. This past Saturday, a guy was arrested for making threats against Obama, while at a training school for bail bondsmen in July. He has also said he'd like to shoot President Bush. Sounds like some blowhard talking s##t to impress other students, but that doesn't matter, he's in custody. [/color]

Funny thing is, while he was charged in connection with his statements concerning Obama, no charges have been filed, at last report, in connection to his statements about G.W.

That's because Bush is a gun owner and man enough to defend himself. :) Actually, either/or would suffice. It's the same charge, and to do both is being redundantly redundant.

I personally would like to see Obama exposed for the do nothing poster boy he is and go down in a hail of McCain votes. If some nutjob shoots him he'll be another hero/saint. If he just gets his ass whupped he'll just be another wanna-be.
