This is a must read article. It shows that banning handguns in Scotland in 1997 in response to a school shooting has made Scotland the most violent country in the developed world.

It is an important story, and one the MSM will NOT report!
I breaks my heart, too, because one of my ancestors, Ghellis McBane, was a hero on Culloden Moor in 1746, where history records he stacked the English around him "like cordwood" before he was finally brought down. The Banes got a free trip to the New World, albeit in chains, as indentures, bared from weapons and the plaid (which, BTW, may be the ugliest Clan tartan on earth).
I believe that when you deprive a warrior culture — however diluted — of weapons, some awful disintegration of the soul takes place, and you are left with the hollow souls of Sotland today.
Thanks for posting the links!

I see a novel and a full length feature film here.

It has got to star Mel Gibson! I can see ole Mel now as Ghellis McBane!
-
True, Mel wouldn't have to learn the sword work...the director would just have to be very careful that he didn't start hacking indiscriminately!

We need a real scots man like Henry Ian Cusick (plays Desmond on LOST). [note: his father is Scottish)

Marshalette, You'll be in the movie version as the damsel in distress. Henry (Ghellis McBane) will save your life numerous times.
It all starts out with MB (in the present day) taking care of the grandkids. The daughter (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) leaves kid1 and kid2 with MB while she and Mom (played by Judi Dench ) attend the annual NRA convention.
After doing all the silly kid stuff, MB puts the kids down for a story. One of kids asked:
kid1: grandpa what did you do in the war?
MB: not much
kid2 and kid1: ohhh
MB: but one of my ancestors, Ghellis McBane, was a hero on Culloden Moor in 1746, where history records he stacked the English around him "like cordwood" before he was finally brought down.
kids: yeah, tell us that story grandpa!
So MB (playing himself) begins the long tale of how his ancestors protected Culloden Moor. In flash backs, MB is also seen as Great Uncle Fergus who teaches young Ghellis (who spends most of the time in the movie shirtless) how to hone an edge and gut Englishmen.
The movie is a great success and receives first runner-up at the well known and popular Urbana, OH "I wished I'd seen this move film festival".

Sounds good DW but I think you have the wrong gender shirtless ;D

OK, this thread just got really really weird. Don, I'm looking at you!
And for this board, what with conversations about ducks and flying dragons and having a hissy fit by not winning a 1911 and all all, saying this thread is weird is saying something!!
Marshal, you want to monitor Mr. Worsham a bit . . . .
;D

True, for you and me, but we have to cater to the female side as well, especially the 18-39 year old demographics.

I think I see a future with Don as a screenwriter. Come on, it couldn't be any worse than some of the stuff they're turning out nowadays.

OK I'm an equal rights kinda guy, make 'em BOTH shirtless! ;)
