Title: Don't Overlook Amazon For Gun Stuff !
Post by: billt on October 15, 2014, 06:32:12 PM
I needed a front sight adjustment tool for my AK-47's. The type I wanted was made by Tapco Interfuse, and it looks like a small C-Clamp with a hole in the solid jaw for letting the pin drift through. It also has a wrench that looks like a cap and ball nipple wrench on the end of the screw for moving the front sight post up and down for elevation.

Cabela's was out of them, so I ordered from Amazon.com early yesterday morning. To my surprise it shipped with tracking information in about 2 hours! It just was delivered in my mailbox minutes ago, just 31 hours after I placed the order! Fantastic service. I didn't think about Amazon for gun stuff. I sure will now. They have everything. If you just Google what your looking for, it will pop up on Amazon. No wonder Jeff Bezos is a billionaire!

Hi;

When it coms to Mosin and type 53 sight adjusters, there is a person in MO, that makes tools for adjusting the front sights when a hammer and screwdriver will not work.....

I've bought a lot of gun parts from Amazon. Spring kits, risers, sights, and quad rails for my AR...... all at much lower prices.

Amazon is my go-to place for everything from brake pads and shocks to mower belts and dryer elements.

Yep.
The spring kits and some other parts for my Glocks have mostly been from Amazon.
Since Mrs. Kmitch has A-prime, most of the shipping is free too.

Sometimes they are amazing, but lately I haven't been impressed.  I ordered 3 t-shirts in what appeared to be a single store, but they came from different places and took 2 weeks to get all 3.  Nothing custom, just stock logo shirts.

But point is they are generally a good resource for a lot of things.  The wife and I have held off on the "prime" account because we'd feel tempted to buy too much stuff.

What exactly does the "Prime Account" consist of?

It costs some money ($75?) to get it and then items that qualify ship for free or shipping upgrade is free.
There are some other perks that I've heard of but was told while the TV was on and I didn't care to listen.

If you don't shop a lot on Amazon it wouldn't be worth it. (NOT my wife)
If you do, then it can save you some money while you spend all your money. (My wife)

I don't do the Prime, but last holiday season I went with the Amazon credit card and set it up as the go-to purchase card for my Amazon account....then every purchase builds points that can be applied on future purchases.
They upped the purchase amount required from $25 to $35 to get free shipping on items stocked by Amazon, but that hasn't hurt much, because I usually order more than that anyway.

I don't use them much as I now have to pay state sales tax (Florida).

One thing to watch is if the item is stocked by Amazon.  If it is, delivery will be quick.  If not, the order is forwarded to the company supplying it and will be dependent upon their service standard.

I use Amazon Prime also.  On covered items, which is a good many, it is free 2nd Day Shipping.

I also got their Credit Card.  It gives "credits" of 3% for purchases from Amazon, 2% for any gasoline purchase, and 1% for other purchases.

Started buying gas with the credit card...had used cash prior to that.  It is something you have to buy and I'll take the 2% rebate.

Also use it for all my Amazon purchases.

My regular credit card has the equivalent of the 1% rebate, so I use it elsewhere.

Prime also allows streaming of thousands of movies, kindle stuff, etc.  Cost is up to 99 bucks now.

The first thing I ever got off Amazon was Asbach Uralt brandy filled chocolates but then I started getting them at mostlychocolate.com. The last few things I got were books and music CDs. They have some hard to find new and used books and CDs at great prices. I didn't even know they sold gun parts and accessories.
