gee I wonder why?

Because, after the Grand Jury sends word they have reached a verdict the Judge is notified, then the interested parties (those legally bound to the case) are notified, and time is given for all to assemble.  If I were the judge I would not set the time any earlier than 9:00AM Tuesday.  Why release this at night?

Well, he is still dead. Cop is cleared by forensics that match his statement. Dumbasses are still going wild and looting. Go figure.

from the reports I saw(which I am sure is not the whole story) the cop had his eye socket broken.  Last time I checked, that is serious bodily injury...  oh and this kid was a line backer 6'4" 280#

If I just had my eyesocket broken by some one like that, well.....

I really admire the people on the jury for having the courage to clear this Officer rather then think of their own safety. There may be threats and even attacks from those who disagree with the decision.

Did anyone watch the announcement of the verdict?  The prosecutor gave the details of the law concerning release of information on the Grand Jury - No names, no ages, no race, no details on votes except the final verdict.  However, a couple stupid reporters would not quit asking for the names of the jurors, their race, and a detailed account of how each juror voted.

Also, just for the fun of it, I watched this on CNN.  A couple of the talking heads ranted on and on and on that it was the prosecutor who came to this verdict and how he got it all wrong.  The so called experts on several news programs this morning are talking about how this will be heard again at least three more times through the state and federal levels until they get it right.  What ever happened to double jeopardy?  Then we top it all off by the grieving family who has made it clear that they will get their justice and compensation through the Civil Court.

As I listened to the account of the police call and actions that night I thought to what we teach in carry class.  The fact that once you use your weapon to defend yourself you will be labeled as the person who (insert whatever happened here).  Officer Wilson has lost his career, his privacy, much of his personal safety, and will always be labeled as the "Cop who shot an unarmed black youth."

What other group loots and destroys innocent businesses when they get worked up? There is no justification for this type of reaction and this is the first time I have approved of the Police having surplus military equipment.

The best way to deal with this ghetto trash would be with a couple belt fed machine guns.
The Constitution protects the right to "Peaceable assembly for redress of grievances", that does not include arson and a new X Box.

As was seen on Twitter last night, there is no cause for celebration and no basis to challenge the grand jury.

I'm just saddened by all the people who lost their jobs when their businesses burned down last night, and the shameless self-aggrandizement of our so-called civil rights "leaders" who care more about lining their own pockets than helping the people they purport to lead.

There's a lot of legitimate pain out there, and last night's actions only made it worse.

Sadly, I am willing to bet this isn't over for Officer Wilson.  I think the feds will indite him on a civil rights charge or something like.

With all of those people up late rioting and looting last night, I bet a lot of them were late for work today.

Double jeopardy only applies to being prosecuted again after getting a verdict in a trial.
(you are not guilty by trial verdict but a video tape surfaces that shows you doing the crime. Too bad for them because you have already been tried. Or the guilty sentence you got wasn't enough for the prosecutor so they try you again - can't do that)
They can't do that but they can investigate till the cows come home.

The family was going to sue no matter what the verdict was.

If the grand jury came back with an indictment do you think all the white people in Ferguson would loot and pillage like a bunch of barbarians?

Officer Wilson might actually have been better off to go to trial and been acquitted.

Not only the immediate loss of jobs, but the blight this will put on those neighborhoods for some time to come.   What businesses do reopen will do so only by charging a lot more to cover insurance (if they can get it) and security.  Then they'll be disparaged for "gouging".  Not a lot of risk takers are willing to open businesses (read the provide jobs) under those conditions.

My point is that the Grand Jury found no reason to indict.  However, the government still has two or three (depending on which source you believe) investigations ongoing for the same charges.  Attorneys have twisted our system to circumvent the rights of Americans.  The next issue, which is nothing but an answer to those who don't trust our system or are greedy, is the civil suit after a person has been found not guilty.  I remember from past cases like this that the defendant, Officer Wilson in this case, can not use his not guilty or no reason to prosecute as evidence in a civil case.

You're right, the criminal case and civil cases are separate.
The evidence used is still pretty much the same but the threshold to render a verdict is "preponderance of evidence" not unanimous vote.

New chant for Ferguson:
PANTS UP - DON'T LOOT!!

There is also no requirement for "reasonable doubt" in a civil case.  Not sure on unanimous jury decisions but the requirement to convict is much less a burden for the plaintiff.  Merely convincing enough to win a wrongful death suit is easier than a murder case in criminal court.

Through this whole thing I am giving law enforcement credit for remaining calm.  I don't believe I could form a line of defense and watch this happen around me without lashing out.

I believe now is the time for our elected officials to take a page from hockey refs:  The best way to settle down a violent game is to stand behind two fighting players and say, loud enough for them to hear, "Let 'em fight it out."  Pull back and let them harm their neighborhoods and kill themselves.

Yes, and in this case, there were five indictments to review from murder one to manslaughter and they couldn't agree to indict on any!  There is a very low bar set for GJ indictment and this GJ couldn't manage to find even enough compelling evidence for manslaughter.

People need to stop lighting fires (both literally and politically) and go home!

How about this? If you don't want to get shot by a cop......... Try keeping your hands off of them! I can't think of a surer way to commit suicide by cop, than to walk up to a Phoenix cop, or Maricopa County Sherriff, and start punching him. I've yet to hear ANYONE from the media mention anything to that effect.

You won't hear them mention it either.
Just like Trayvon Martin was a "innocent black teen" but they neglected to mention he had Zimmerman on the ground beating the snot out of him.
Just another POS who got his justice 6 times in the chest where he deserved it.

The National Guard was mobilized weeks ago, but never deployed on the streets of Ferguson when they announced the verdict...... At 8:30 PM of all times. It's almost as if they wanted this to happen. The governor of that state is a communist democrat. I can all but guarantee you this has Obama and Holder written all over it. Fox News reported the mayor of Ferguson was desperately trying to reach anyone in power at the state capitol building, but could not raise a single soul. It was almost as if someone had cut the phone lines.

They also said Valarie Jarrett was on the phone about all of this to most every democrat in power in Missouri. The Lieutenant Governor is a Republican and he said there is no doubt Obama and Holder are behind all of this. If they would have had armed guardsmen in front of those businesses, not one would have been damaged. Now, over half of the business district of that town is in ashes and ruins. I hope they let them live in it. Burn down the businesses that you shop in daily. That makes a hell of a lot of sense. If these stupid idiots want to act like animals, then they can live like them. Then again, even a wild animal has enough common sense not to destroy his own environment. These stupid fools, evidently not.

This is going to happen again, and again. Each time it will be worse. Black white relations are deteriorating at a frantic pace. In 1994 things weren't so bad. Then you had the Simpson verdict. After that the Rodney King verdict, and the ensuing riots that followed with the beating of Reginald Denny. Next came Hussein's election that was supposed to "improve" black / white relations. It did the direct opposite. Then came the Trevon Martin fiasco. Now this. We're headed for a race war in this country at 100 MPH with no brakes.

It sums up the apparent attitude of the black community and the administration perfectly though.
Am I the only one who has noticed that the recent poster boys for racist violence Trayvon Martin, and Micheal Brown, both DESERVED to get shot ?

You're not alone, Tom!

It certainly appears that the outcome was justified based on my knowledge of both cases.

I saw a picture of one of the "guilty kafir" protests (doesn't matter which one ) saggy pants holding a sign "Stop killing us".
I want to point out 2 things about it, #1 quit robbing and assaulting and we won't need to kill them, #2 quit killing each other, you're doing a heck of a lot more of it than we are.
If whites were "hunting" black men, then just like with the other African game, the natives would destroy the herds.

(These are the ideas that come to mind while hearing about the riots and protests while reading Selous   ;D  )
