Ordered some ammo a week + ago and last Tuesday I got an email saying that I (J. Watson) had signed for the package. Only trouble was, I hadn't...
I called and began wading into them and about 45 minutes after the email, Fedex, (a contractor) shows up. I started asking him some very hard questions, as I was still on hold with Fedex. The drivers answer was basically "Look, I just work here"..
I knew I wouldn't get any appropriate attention dealing with the matter unless I told them what was in the box, and that did seem to raise some hackles. The wrong answer they related to me was that the sender wasn't shipping ammo on the proper type of account... Really...
Called (Wideners) and let them know and had them put "UPS Only" on my account.
I've never had good experience with Fedex. Just relating an bad experience..
Oh, by the way, I had some more stuff delivered via Fedex the following day and the (different) driver immediately asked me what was in the box...
Aside from actually getting my ammo, NOTHING GOOD came out of the experience...
Here's hoping UPS gets a little more business, and a happy new year!!!

Did you ever think of this.
UPS never delivers "bad" mail, bill's junk, court summons etc. what they bring is something you want.
With that in mind their colors should be "happy" colors.
The guy who thought that shade of brown qualified as a "happy" color must have been constipated.

My most recent experience with FedEx went like this. I got a package from them with my free box of ammo and mag for my LCP. Maybe two weeks later FedEx put a sticker on my front door saying they left a package on my back porch, my preferred delivery location. My package was stolen while I was still in bed. UPS always delivers after I get up and rings the doorbell but FedEx delivers early in the morning and just leaves things there. I didn't recognize the name of the company it came from, someone or other Graphics Company. I called FedEx and told them I didn't get my package from whoever it was. They told me to contact that company so I did by email and told them my package was stolen but I didn't remember ordering anything from them in the first place. They said they would send a new package no charge and that I would have to sign for it. I told them I would pay them to ship it UPS instead of FedEx but they wouldn't go for it. Meanwhile I figured out that the company in question was the one that sent my free ammo and mag earlier. They sent a second package and that was what was stolen. They were getting ready to send me a third package when I told them I already got the first one. What a fustercluck that was.

Fed Ex has also teamed with the USPS for delivering small parcels. I don't like that but you have no choice when the shipping is free.

Actually UPS and FedEx have both teamed with USPS for small packages. UPS/FedEX gets it to town then dumps it with USPS. It makes total sense. USPS visits every address everyday (except Sundays). Why send a big truck out to a home address for something little? The bonus is occasionally you'll get something on Saturday that had the UPS/FedEX delivered it themselves it wouldn't have come till Monday.
I think it shows creativeness for somebody at USPS to be able to strike a deal like this. Sadly I'm sure that person will probably get fired for thinking outside the box.

Whenever powder or primers come FedEx it's a hit or miss on whether it gets delivered.
Sometimes they won't accept a pre-signed door slip but make me (not my wife) sign for it in person. And if I miss them totally I have to wait 4 days before I can pick it up at the distro center. Other times they drop it off without a signature. Go figure.
At least with UPS, I can leave a signed note on the door and they'll leave the package.
USPS would be better for me, because my mailman is a shooter and sees to it that I get my stuff. He knows he can drive down the driveway whenever he has bullets. If I'm home, sometimes I even open the package to show him what came.
-
Once FedEx came by when I wasn't home and I asked where I could pick up my package before I went on vacation. I had to drive 40 miles each way to pick it up in another city. When I go to the UPS distribution center it's a 5 mile drive. Just one more reason I like UPS better. I also had one package that UPS shipped to the post office who delivered it. No problems with that one either. I checked online and FedEx is supposed to have a place a little bit closer than UPS but I never saw it when I was in the neighborhood. Hmm.

I tried to ship a gift from MA to KY. A few weeks ago, a coffee cup! UPS wanted twenty bucks for ground service... The cup cost less so I went USPS for a few dollars. I hate the lot of them...
-
i have had really good luck with smaller carriers like GSO, ontrac etc etc. generally faster, and cheaper. but they are tipically regional.
-
I had a bad experience with Fed. Ex! They delivered a generator to someone up the street and delivered a book to me! How the tags got switched I will never know! Lucky for me the guy that got my generator was honest! Not a big fan of Fed. Ex.!

Unless you have the fucked up skank full retard refugee from a hippy commune bitch that I have for a mail carrier!!!
This idiot has delivered gun parts to wrong addresses, delivered me someone elses mail several times, (including their bills and credit card offers), didn't deliver a Christmas wreath that was in a box big enough to put a floor fan in - and didn't deliver the note to the mailbox telling me I had that package at the PO. If the person who sent it hadn't call me, it would STILL be there.
She also delivered a signed book written by my Sister in law to 'God only knows' along with a $100 bottle of insulin for a family member that was staying with us and in that package was a check for that person for $160.
If it wasn't illegal, I'd beat the $hit out of her with a hammer.
(but since it is illegal, I won't)
NUMEROUS complaints - face to face - with her boss hasn't changed anything. Emailed complaints don't mean squat. She will have this route and her job until she decides to not want it.
And UPS does deliver on Saturdays.
Ok, rant mode off...what did you guys do for relaxation today?

I'm so sorry. Obviously life averages out. I have the antithesis of your mail carrier. Mine is a shooter. Watches out for my packages. Doesn't complain when I get 100# of bullets. (probably works for NSA and is spying on me.)
UPS does deliver on Saturdays, but for extra cost.
-
I never had to pay extra shipping to have UPS deliver a package on Saturday.
-
From my house to Brownell's a one pound package UPS Ground Monday delivery
$14.67
Saturday Delivery $16.00 USD ADDITIONAL (sorry modified this to add "additional")
Note: Remember to put a Saturday Delivery sticker on your packages.
Honest, in most places you pay extra for the big brown truck to come out to your house on Saturday. You're just extri special JF if they deliver to you without extra charge. Or maybe you're an Amazon Prime customer.

Or maybe you're an Amazon Prime customer.
Ding Ding Ding!!
Can we trade mail carriers?
Yours can get out of summer humidity and mine would set the NSA back 10 years. ;)
-
I thought I got packages from UPS on Saturday a few times and also thought I shipped one on a Saturday but maybe not. The more I think about it the more I doubt myself. :-\ The only time I know I paid more to ship anything was when it was second day air.

UH-OH. (see below) It's just the front sight mount for the Mosin, but I'm thinking the USPS has sent it to the wrong facility, twice. Neither of those below locations serve my zip code. My mail comes out of facility at zip 30068. 30304 is just east of the Atlanta Airport and 30320 is the Atlanta Airport. They're going backwards!
At best tonight they'll figure out the package is in the wrong part of Atlanta and they'll send it up to Marietta main facility, which will figure out which branch it should go to. So Wednesday it'll show up at 30068 and then it'll go out for delivery on Thursday. I can only hope I get it that soon, as oppose to them returning it to the shipper. (Yes, I checked and my address is correct on the order.)

Ok...here is a new one for me.
I ordered something from Amazon.
I am a Prime member, but this item was not listed as a Prime product and initial delivery, by UPS, was scheduled for this coming Thru. 1/8.
n Sat, 1/3, the expected delivery was changed to Sun, 1/4. Sunday morning I hear a knock at my door and get there in time to see a USPS truck driving away and a package on my porch.
Ill I can figure is that the USPS is VERY interested in holding and growing this service.

Unless you have the fucked up skank full retard refugee from a hippy commune bitch that I have for a mail carrier!!!
I think this is basically it in a nutshell. All of this with all 3 outfits depends on the driver, along with the route you have. After all, when you break it down they're all delivery services that hire delivery men. In that regard they're no different than Domino's. For everyone who uses these services, they're no better / worse than the guy or gal driving the truck. Even though both bad experiences I had didn't involve drivers.
The first was with Natchez involving UPS. It was a case of .45 ACP Blazer Brass. It came late, repackaged, (Natchez's package had gotten broken open, and looked like the package Tom Hanks finally delivered 4 years later in "Castaway"). There were loose rounds rolling around inside. And I was missing 2 boxes with around 11 rounds missing out of the third box. I called Natchez, and they immediately apologized and sent out 5 more boxes which more than made it right. All based on my word alone. I don't know if UPS contacted them about the damage or not. I rather doubt it because they never mentioned it to me, and seemed rather surprised by the whole thing.
The second time was again with Natchez and UPS. I ordered 16 pounds of powder. (Accurate 2230-C). It was a canister powder they had a really good price on. (Just $64.00 for a 8 pound jug). The delivery time came and went. Nothing changed on UPS's website. It just kept showing, "Out For Delivery". After several days, (4 or 5), I called Natchez. While I was on the phone making arrangements for another order, UPS showed up. The package was in perfect condition, but no explanation was given.
Other than that I've never had any trouble with any of the three. UPS, Fed Ex, USPS. Of the 3 I like USPS the best. For me anyway, they're the cheapest and the fastest. Especially on stuff like Hornady 6,000 round boxes of bulk bullets, and other heavy stuff.

I have a awesome mail man, he is a big gun guy, goes to the range all the time, every time I see him in the gun shop he always says " this is supervisor ammo" he knows when I get packages from "gun" places and always makes sure he hand delivers them, not just droping them at the door or in the mail box. its a real blessing. mail always gets here between 11 and 11:15 am.
-
I got an email notice that a UPS package is coming today but when I checked to see where it's at it says it was delayed by weather in Illinois. Since I've been checking the status of my packages on the computer this is the first delay. It could happen with any delivery service but at least I know about the delay. I never know where my USPS packages are until I get them. The last package I got from USPS is a holiday music CD that has a broken case. The damage to the package is clear to see. I'm still waiting to hear back from the place I got it from.
-
Check several times this morning and they finally got the move on.
See the activity at 8:30 at the correct facility? But also noticed they changed the estimated delivery from 1/2 to 1/6. Great 20/20 vision there.
Yes, it was in the mail box. No reason for it to have kicked around for three days. It was clearly and properly labeled with a 9 digit ZIP even. The wife is so relieved it was there because she said, and I'm sure she was wrong, I was getting real grouchy over this. I mean it only took 3 days to go from ATL, 20 miles to my PO.
We all have horror stories about every carrier I'm sure. It's like gun reviews. Look around and you'll find forums who dis or champion any gun.

My local USPS sucks these days.
Our rural carrier (old family friend) retired after 20 years and the next year the post-master of the town facility retired also.
To say that their "replacements" fail to measure up is an understatement.
Our old mail carrier was so regular with deliveries, we could nearly set our clocks by the delivery time each day. The only time he was off was during severe weather.
Now, I think they are using part-timers and "fill-in" carriers from other Post Offices......and one day the mail might come at 10 AM and the next day it might come at 5 PM....and I don't think they bother to deliver at all when it rains.
-
I haven't got my mail yet today and I don't really expect to get it later. It's only 6 degrees out there. The mailman is probably burning everything to stay warm. ;)

Funny the day after posting my above comments..... today I come home from doctor's office to find a delivery of Lee reloading items I ordered from Amazon (Christmas gift card from son).... funny thing was, I was expecting two boxes........and there was an EXTRA box. :o
A check of the shipping label showed it to be addressed to my brother, whose house is only a couple hundred yards away......so, I can kinda see the error, but it just shows the USPS carrier wasn't reading the label past the last name.
But hey, at least I got my powder measure and universal decapping die!!!! :D :D

Great experience with UPS today. Ordered two bricks of CCI .22lr Standard Velocity on Friday, and when I stopped by the house this noon the box was next to the front door with the guard cats covering it.
Question of the day is how long before I can order more. Midway has a two box limit, and I'm thinking they may need to deplete this supply before it will allow me to order more.
-
Go ahead and order more, the worst that they can do is send back your money.

Or give you store credit and you will forced, FORCED I say, to spend it on something else.

The computer won't accept the order. It recognizes me. I even tried on an account I set up for the wife. Wish I would have pulled the trick of using my building number system. I have numbers for all our buildings, because we get charged premiums for "residential delivery" by trucking firms. When I add building numbers suddenly we are a business and no extra charge. Maybe adding "building 4" after the street address would have made it look like she was a different family than me.

If they stopped an account of your wife's, then there is a good chance they ID'd you with something on your computer...likely a cookie...a marker sites stash on your computer to give them some history of your transactions with them.

I delete cookies daily. It is a part of the maintenance I do.
It doesn't matter, because they ran out today. Trying to get some primers, and that is even more difficult.

Place your order by phone, not on line. If they flag it they'll do so before they take your credit card and commit to a shipping method.
